Movie Analysis; “Ready Player One”

The movie Ready Player One, which mainly takes place in the virtual-reality environment called the OASIS, barely slows down sufficiently to clarify the references, the year is 2045, and the environment is awful and the location in Columbus, Ohio, where Wade lives, like so many others, in the Stacks, a densely populated cluster of cruddy trailers stacked high over each other and tied together by scaffolding. Wade and his friends clip on their headgear to escape their dreary lives and reach the Oasis, a vast virtual world where everybody spends the bulk of their time. Most people are living in miserable poverty, and spending as much time as possible jacked into the OASIS fantasy world. Wherever they can be and do whatever they want or at least whatever they can afford to buy in the eternally spinning video game arenas of the world, with coins won. Reclusive genius James Halliday created the OASIS which packed it with his own favorite culture. He created a three-part journey in the universe when he died, linked to his favorite movies and games, but also linked to his own past regrets and frustrations. Anyone who discovers the three keys he's hidden within the game world, and the ultimate Easter egg they unlock, will get complete control of the vast fortune of OASIS and Halliday.

More importantly, the movie is openly funny in ways that constantly remind the audience that there are people behind the game avatars, and especially people who are often young, self-absorbed, inexperienced, and caught up in their own generated badass self-images. The human frailties behind the game avatars are a reliable source of humor for Ready Player One and the script takes on a hilarious and absolute advantage. Media and informations has more seen in this movie about being addicted to video games and the internet, and his squad High 5 eventually limits the use of OASIS because we as humans need a lot of time to spend on our families, friends particularly ourselves than being addicted to virtual games and the internet, For me, the best line in this film was "Don't trust anybody in this OASIS" or may I mean Don't trust anyone on social media because not all of the images you see on social media are the same in real life.

“Student gap exists between various classes."

The digital divide is the gap that exists between those with access to new information and communication technologies and those without access in terms of access to information technology between different groups. The digital divide also reflects the ability of various communities to manipulate the internet, and different gadgets. The digital divide emerges from a multitude of social, geographical, and economic influences. Globally, both public and private institutions have tried to narrow the division. However the separation produces various penalizing consequences for the adversely affected population. The worst percussion involve social and economic alienation of the population affected.  As a student, what simple steps can I do to bridge the gap of this digital divide? A creatively used technology makes a huge difference within a culture. Economically, a citizenry can effectively network, as well as reducing the distance between the wealthy and the poor. Especially the poor will learn better ways to empower themselves.

We need to take a range of steps to close the digital gap by increasing digital literacy because some of us have had a limited view of what digital literacy means for so long, in order to bridge the digital divide, we need to boost our capacity for digital literacy, based on the criteria above. We should also provide organizational benefits for organizations with information and communication technologies, because there are many schools working hard to close down the digital divide. In addition to the telecommunications infrastructure, develop relevant and local content, as a student learning and applying ideas that we relate to is simpler, by inciting my friends, fellow students, family and accomplices to follow in my footsteps as well. Because having good awareness, strength, attitude and conduct towards networked devices and having both functional hardware and software capabilities are the simple steps that I can do to bridge the gap of this digital divide.

“The Setbacks of Piracy”

Piracy refers to illegal copying of material that is copyrighted and is then sold at much lower rates. The advancement of access to technology has meant that over the years, piracy has become even more widespread. A lot of laws have been made to prevent privacy, because of more compelling issues at hand, it does not get the focus at the national level. Piracy is achieved in a variety of forms, such as video piracy, cable piracy. Piracy in satellite channels is unusual occurrence because they are structured and usually don't screen movies without purchasing proper rights. Piracy’s appeal is due to its anonymity and the ease it can create and distribute unauthorized copies of the program. However, any person making unauthorized copies contributes to the monetary losses that are caused by piracy.

The concept of creating a worldwide web where digitized copies of protected objects can be exchanged from peer to peer was nowhere in sight when copyright was created. But now we've entered an Internet-dominated environment, copyrighted content is no longer as easy to secure. The digital era made it easy to share, and it only exploded when peer-to - peer sharing became a concept for us. The setbacks of piracy can be a federal criminal offense for making unauthorized program copies, mostly pirated software is more likely to become infected with extreme computer viruses which can destroy the computer system of the consumer and most software pirated does not come with manuals or technical support provided to legitimate users. Setbacks in piracy may varies on some scenarios I have experienced in terms of movies, some pirated movie may be blur or worst the link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed. Whereas in music the music you download will be static or worst the whole music will not be as good as the other. Therefore, I think this may very well result in piracy laws reflecting that it is illegal since it is an infringement of copyright and is the unauthorized sharing of copyrighted materials.

“Understanding the disadvantage of new media on young youth in this generation”

Social media refers to all applications and websites or blogs that allow people around the globe to interconnect through the internet, chat and share content, video call among many other features that it offers its users like us. We are the leading and most fanatical of these social networks as youth and teens to the extent where even inside the classroom, we used phones to socialize through different social media sites. Today's social media on youth involves keeping us up-to - date on events across the globe and also helping us to network and remain linked without physical meetings with our fellow youths and friends.

I can say that social media platforms make our lives fun, effective and simpler, as well as our lifestyle, but spending long hours having a conversation on social media sites reduces our productivity as a youth. This in effect allows us not to be self-dependent but to rely on our parents and families for maintenance. The long hours spent online on social media can be a gateway to productive activities that can allow us to make a living, or even gain an education through online tutorials, for example, and make good use of online research materials. But yet it exposes adolescents below the age of eighteen to online predators who get us wooed into sexual acts like lesbianism and other general sexual misconducts. It also exposes us to pornographic content being spread in some the social groups online. It also exposes us to online sharing of pornographic material within some of the social classes. This in turn results in early pregnancies among young girls which cause them to drop out of school. It may also contribute to contraction of sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV and this may contribute to our young generation's early deaths. Some teenagers' values are now being tampered with, as they now have access to immoral literature and videos. To summarise my stand, social networking has been proven to have both positive and negative effects on the youngsters. Parents should guide and educate their children on current matters including the use of social media and inform them of its harmful impacts on them when misused or overused. The educational curriculum should also be updated so that social media studies can be included in its disciplines to warn students that they need to be vigilant about their use of social media.

“Understanding the Relevance of Information Literacy in the Midst of Social Era”

Information literacy is beneficial for today’s learners during the social era since most of the information nowadays can be transmitted quickly to everyone. Information literacy has the set of competencies necessary to identify, collect, organize, and analyze information that we need to possess for us to be aware of the current events happening. It is something that people must acquire so that we are prepared when the information is needed for any decision and task in life. Nowadays, people tend to believe whatever information they have seen in any form of media. Through information literacy, people would able to recognize that not all information comes from credible sources, some of it is false information that is based on opinions and assumptions. With the advent of technology and media outlets, we can connect and communicate with other people sharing our personal goals and interests, however, we must not believe easily that can be found in any media platforms and we must make sure to verify the information if it came from a reputable source.

Understanding the relevance of information literacy in the midst of social era is important with the amount of information that we have today in our contemporary world revolving around the use of media platforms. Being information literate helps us to learn how to use the information effectively. It enables us to recognize when information is needed, locate, evaluate, and use it efficiently. Due to the widespread usage of the internet, we received a lot of information which is most of the time, is not evaluated, and so, information literacy allows us to assess the credibility of the source. Being an information literate individual we are able to identify what information is real and accurate. Acquiring the skills of being an information literate would be a great help to do well in any field through recognizing the difference between good and bad information, and evaluate the credibility of the source.

The media and government are the two primary institutions in the world having different roles performed in our country. The country where we lived allows us to express our opinions and thoughts that symbolizes our country being Democratic. The media and government can influence people's minds and change how they think about certain issues that are happening around the world today. Media plays a vital role in informing us about what's happening in our world today. Without media, we wouldn't be informed on the current issues our country is experiencing, and without government, we wouldn't be able to get our needs and, no one will guide us on our right path. The media helps people understand how the government operates and provides us the information that we needed. With the widespread use of media platforms and outlets, people express their opinions and perspectives about the issues we are experiencing that can easily disseminate all over the world.

Media has always been said to be the watchdog of the government. This means that the media maintain democracy and that the government is kept accountable for its actions. Media has been the instrument of the people to the government. We can know the decisions made by our government for the country by covering important political and social events. Mass media also engage in communicating and delivering information to the public through newspapers, radio, magazines, television, and radio. The media plays a vital role today because of the problems that we are facing right now. The public must be informed of the actions made by the government, so it is important that media communication with the government. The media and government are interconnected, the government manipulates the media while media influences the government making it accountable and transparent to the public. So the media is keeping an eye on what's going on to keep the people updated and informed.

"The Value of being a Media and Information literate individual"

Empowering myself to a great launch as young individual of today’s generation as I clearly see the benefits of information and media literate to individuals traditionally seen as the strategy that  combined sets of competencies knowledge, attitude and skills necessary for our daily life work today. I can say that the value of being a media and information literate is very important nowadays considering that we are living in the 21st century which turn us with rapid innovation of technologies such as cell phones, television, radio’s, computers and other kinds of medium for information. How can I say so? We all can perfectly see the value of being a media and information literate through this crisis we are having which is the pandemic, through this calamity only those young youth who have high knowledge on media and information could step forward on their journey as a student. As a process of being media and information literate basically it gives us freedom to express ourselves being students that will give us advantage in our modern world today especially in terms of giving and gathering information knowing best most of the false and accurate information in different kinds of medium specifically in social media.

As a student we need to know the value of being media and information literate because it can help us in our learning process to gain more information to be used in our future endeavours especially in our future jobs. We can also gain inspiration to become a future innovators to help our country to develop technologically and economically. The value of being a media literate is not to learn facts or analysis about the media but rather to learn and to raise the right questions about what you are watching, reading, or even listening to cause it’s about being vigilant on something you aren’t sure of. Similarly, the value of being information literate recognizes when information is needed and have the ability to evaluate, locate and use effectively the needed information you will produce. To summarise and tell my point of view, the said importance are all part of our daily living and everyone has the right to freedom of expressing their opinion, this right includes freedom to hold opinions without being blocked by someone or to seek help and receive an impart information and ideas through any media source.
