why zoey's a loner
Although she acts 'awfully nice', Zoey mostly seems repulsed by people that she coild have friendly interactions with. She quickly assumes that Dawn "is probably a wizard" and feels creeped out by her. Deems Dakota's friendship to be "hazardous to her health" and such. She was even annoyed by Mike doing his 'acting' (which he called it to hide his DID).
She talks about 'Juvie rejects' and 'jocks' which she hates, though with how she acts she may have probably not tried to look past that.
TLDR; Zoey is way too judgemental and quick to assume things, that's why she can barely get friends.
so uh, zoey.. wtf ?

zoey, the manic pixie nightmare.
stereotypical indie girl– obsession with alt rock / oldies bands, only listens to shit on vinyl, gave herself a stick + poke tattoo of a moon on her wrist at her friends house. has a superiority complex that makes her sort of manipulative to any guy who’s dumb enough to like her (mike)
mal may hate mike sometimes, but it’s out of a need to protect the body and zoey is like literally his worst enemy.
