As an Australian I love the whole "Australia is a death trap full of vicious deadly animals" cultural myth. Every place has some deadly animals in it who will fuck you over if you don't understand them; we're not more dangerous than anywhere else. BUT we get to look badarse by existing when people pretend we are. No downsides.

Fiona started taking care of her entire family at 9 yrs old, let that sink in. She wasn't even a preteen when she became her household's adult in charge and that became her entire identity, Fiona the oldest sister, Fiona the caretaker. By the time the show starts she has spent over a decade being nothing but a mother and she's only 21. 21 years old and taking care of 2 teens, 2 kids, a baby and her grown ass father in every single aspect, monetarily, emotionally and just making sure they don't die in general. How can u look at her life and expect her to be a perfect parental figure to her siblings?? she herself had no good parental figure, how can she be something she doesn't even know what it looks like?? how can she know when to treat her siblings as kids or as adults when she has virtually been an adult her whole life ?? when was it the right time for her to start living her life?? when Liam turned 18?? why can't her now also grown younger siblings help raise their youngest when she took care of all of them at their age?? Fiona wasn't a perfect mother and that's because she wasn't supposed to be a mother at all. "But she chose to take care of them" did she? is it really a choice when is either that or all of you starve or freeze to death? or in s3 when she either became guardian or they just waited for the next time frank got mad and called child services on them?
