If you dare come at me about banning straws, I will throw you into the sun cannon. I’m disabled, I’m crippled, I need disposable plastic straws, and all those pricey ridiculous alternatives aren’t working as well. Plastic straws were invented for the disabled.
Way to shit all over a vital access need because you think straws are worse than corporate greed.
We all care about the turtles, the seals, the oceans, obviously. Notice how the easiest thing to yell about was something that would barely affect anything but appealed heavily to emotional discourse.
The disabled community is huge, and it can be joined by anyone. Most of those As Seen On TV products were invented for us. Society still mocks us and ignores us, and often outright harms us in multiple ways.
Communicate better. Listen better. But stop putting us out in the cold because you are inconvenienced by our simplest needs.

Stockholm syndrome was coined to slander a woman who had been in a hostage situation but openly criticized the poor police response which recklessly put her in more danger and escalated the violence. She was then belittled and discredited publically by the police for this.
So. Yeah. Maybe Belle does have Stockholm syndrome actually.

saw a take about how conflating all incarcerated people with "rapists and murderers" isn't reflective of the reality of how many criminal convictions are of poor people stealing things they need to live, addicts without access to treatment, homeless people just existing, and so on, which is all true and important to point out, and i know the op already knows this so i'm not putting it in their notes, but: in addition, if you believe "legally convicted with murder" automatically equals "sadistic serial killer" you have far too much faith in the justice system and also need to stop watching cop shows probably

#no I was just thinking about this bc some people in a chat were talking about Julien baker and they were like ‘I love them!’ And I was like#I’m not going to correct them but she uses she/her pronouns got damn#It’s in her Instagram bio#But I was like. Hmmm interesting. Is this representative of a trend#and it sure is!#but also. the thing of using they/them pronouns for people you're not sure of. a lot of cis gender conforming people do this only to#ppl they flag as trans or gnc#so it is part of this issue too

augh the festival of neggs isn't working for me :( when i go to the foods shop and pick my negg the page just turns white and acts like it's loading but nothing loads! and then if i go to my inventory or the festival page there's no prize and it shows that i haven't solved it yet.
just tried it in firefox and safari and on chrome on my phone. nothing works.

this Mud-dauber Wasp chose our windowsil to build her nest! after a bit of investigation of me and my camera, she graciously allowed me to photograph her while she worked on her construction.
in the photos above, she has arrived with a ball of mud collected from somewhere nearby. this nest isn't for her to live in, but for her young to grow and pupate. in this mass of mud she will craft several individual cells, and provision them all with the paralysed bodies of orb-weaver spiders. each cell will have a single egg laid on the first spider, before being sealed off with more mud.
here, she picks the next spot to deposit her ball of mud, using her mandibles to smooth it onto the structure. when the larvae hatch, they will consume all the spiders in their respective cells, before pupating and then emerging as adults wasps.
each time she finished with a layer of mud, she would take a moment to groom her forelegs and antennae, before flying off to repeat the process. these photos were taken earlier in the Summer, and as of posting this, the adult wasps have yet to emerge.
