Hiro swallowed hard, and shook the man's hand. "Hello Sinatra-san, I'm not much of a drinker, you probably noticed." He smiled wryly, running his thumb along the edge of his glass.

Hiro ordered himself a scotch too, imitating the man next to him. He had never really drunk before, having only turned twenty-one the month before. He took a large swallow as he had seen the man do and choked. He sputtered, feeling like his throat was on fire. He knew there was a reason why he didn’t drink. “How, can you drink that?” He asked, once the coughing has subsided.

"It's of no matter really." Takahiro replied, an easy smile still gracing his features. "I am not so easy to offend as you might believe. In Japan, it is customary to greet with the surname first and the given name following."

Hiro smiled shyly back at her as he shook her hand, unsure whether it would be rude to correct her. “Actually,” he began hesitantly, “Hayashi is my surname. My given name Takahiro, you may call me Hiro if you wish.” He folded his hands in front of him, to stop himself from fidgeting. 

Hiro blinked at her, wondering why she thought he would tell her his destination if she wouldn't tell him hers. "You may inquire, but I might not necessarily answer. Let us just say that it is at quite a distance." 

She glanced at the empty seat on the subway. “Do you mind greatly if I sit with you?” She inquired to the young man, “All the other seats are taken.” Shouldering her backpack, she added, “I apologize for my impromptu question.”

He had only come to the bar because his friends had invited him, but they seemed to have melted away into the crowd. Takahiro flinched slightly as a man sat next to him. He turned slightly, not knowing what was expected in this kind of situation.
