This is absolutely still me in the wasteland. Shorts, silly hat, carrying enough shit for 4 people, just enough drugs on board to remember how to get back to the car, trying to decide if this guy's a gunner or just unfortunately dressed like one.
"Ha-ha, yessir, I sure do look like an idiot! Have all my caps! I'll be on my way!"
(climbs up into the mezzanine to carpet bomb him with 15 plasma mines I nearly forgot I was carrying)
Or, more likely:
"Howdy bud! In lieu of killing me for my shoes and teeth, are there any monsters in this here hellscape you'd like to see drawn as like, a sexy lady? A slutty radstag or a deathclaw with BIG hips? Be wise not to discount its value till you've seen it!"
(hands over sketch of the most Pixar-mom-lookin monstrosity you ever seen. Stabs the guy in the neck before he can disentangle the stand of cognitive Christmas lights his brain has just become, his last moments, a cocktail of awe, shame, and confusion)
🤠🔪🥵💀

Friendly reminder that asking your lycan partner to turn you is incredibly insensitive! Seriously can we retire this trope already? Not only is it just offensive, but no one would ever actually choose this life! Lycanthropy is a curse. Full stop.

Ok user "moon-moon" as if that original meme wasn't created to mock pack nomenclature 🙄
Anyway I'm not gonna touch that internalized lycanphobia with a ten foot pole. Being turned by your partner is something that can be incredibly intimate as long as both parties are consenting and the one being turned is 100% sure they want it. Literally the only downside to transforming once a month is the pain, but midol works just fine. No one with these "lycanthropy bad" takes ever wants to discuss the legitimate positives that come with this "curse" lmao.

I'm literally reclaiming moon moon but go off I guess. Anyways turning your partner is absolutely disgusting and morally reprehensible and anyone who does it should be muzzled permanently.

lmao my wife literally saved my life when she turned me but i guess she should be muzzled huh? we run through the woods hunting deer together and can each haul in groceries in one trip now, but nooo she's obviously a danger to society because she cares enough about me to help me when insurance wouldn't cover my medicine
also it was confirmed that the creator of that meme literally makes and sells silver bullets so if you still wanna use moon moon for yourself that certainly is a choice. source: (X)

I love that instead of naming the more common benefits of lycanthropy, you mentioned that you and your wife can carry all the groceries in one trip. I think that's definitely a positive that gets overlooked far too often and I commend you for speaking your truth, sir

What role did Stalin himself play in the (re)criminalization of abortion and homosexuality that happened during his administration? Did he address either in his prior theoretical writings?
“It is of the greatest importance in this connection, to refer back to the text of the original law which legalised abortion in Soviet Russia in 1921. It is important to note that in this law not a word was said about sex-equality, and the right to have an abortion was never put forward as a fundamental right of the Soviet woman. On the contrary, abortion was treated as a social evil, but an evil which was likely to be less harmful when practised legally than when carried out under conditions of secrecy. Here is part of the text of the original law permitting abortion:
‘During the past decades the number of women resorting to artificial discontinuation of pregnancy has grown both in the West and in this country. The legislation of all countries combats this evil by punishing the woman who chooses to have an abortion and the doctor who performs it. Without leading to favourable results, this method of combating abortion has driven the operation underground and made the woman a victim of mercenary and often ignorant quacks who make a profession of secret operations. As a result, up to 50 per cent of such women are infected in the course of the operation, and up to 4 per cent of them die.
‘The Workers’ and Peasants’ Government is conscious of this serious evil to the community. It combats this evil by propaganda against abortions among working women. By working for Socialism, and by introducing the protection of maternity and infancy on an extensive scale, it feels assured of achieving the gradual disappearance of this evil. But as moral survivals of the past and the difficult economic conditions of the present still compel many women to resort to this operation…’ it is allowed in State hospitals.
The essential feature of this law is that it was based on ‘difficult economic conditions,’ and was of a temporary nature. The right to abortion was never introduced as one of the rights of Soviet women, to be enjoyed in all circumstances. It was considered an 'evil,’ and was introduced as a makeshift to combat the serious mortality rate from illegal abortions carried out under unsatisfactory conditions. There is evidence that, at the present time, owing to the increased knowledge of contraceptives on the one hand and the growing sense of economic security on the other, women will not now practise abortion in this way, and that therefore the permissive law is no longer necessary in the interests of health. Abortion in Soviet legislation has always been regarded primarily as a question of health, not of equality. Since thousands of women have been neglecting the use of contraceptives because they could obtain an abortion, the legality of the less satisfactory method of discontinuing pregnancy has actually to some extent prevented more satisfactory methods from being used of avoiding pregnancy altogether.“ (Sloan, Pat. Soviet Democracy. London: Victor Gollancz. 1937. pp. 125-126.)
Stalin never wrote about homosexuality or abortion, and there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to believe that the latter was supported by the Bolsheviks as a long term fundamental right of women.  The restriction on abortions was implemented after mass debates throughout the country, with concerns about the safety of abortion procedures and the need for population growth being cited as the decisive factors for this decision.  As for homosexuality, we should not forget the context of the ban on it, since even under Lenin homosexuality was considered by medical experts to be an unhealthy anomaly, and the number of communists at the time who would valiantly speak out in defense of gay rights was sparse (and ha-ha no, not because Stalin killed them all).  With regards to homosexuality being regarded as problematic under Lenin, Lenin himself often suggested that Georgy Chicherin seek out medical help for apparent mental conditions and that he be sent “to a sanatorium”.  Chicerin’s cousin, Baron A. Meyendorff, would go on to note in 1971 that references to his “health problems” were “euphemism[s] for his homosexuality”.  So we should not indulge in any ridiculous illusion that the legalization of homosexuality in 1917 was generally regarded as an eternal right that should be protected at all costs until big bad Stalin came along.  One can be fairly certain that it would have been re-banned no matter what.

The FDJ, which had been set up as an anti-fascist youth movement and played a central role after the war in the re-education of young people, was more overtly political and suited to an older age group. It was the only officially recognised national youth organisation and most young people belonged to it. [...] The FDJ has been universally characterised in the West as an organisation for indoctrinating young people along the lines of the Hitler Youth, but in the ideology of Marxism. Although it was guided by the state and was seen as a means of educating young people in the ethos of socialism, its overall aims were humanistic and it promoted the ideas of international and national solidarity, co-operation and social responsibility. The FDJ had its own national newspaper, Junge Welt (Young World) and was represented as the official student voice in schools and colleges, and it also had representatives in Parliament. Many learned how to organise events, practise public speaking and, through the activities of the FDJ, had the opportunity of meeting others outside their own sphere of experience. It organised, for instance, national and international festivals where young people from different countries would meet. It was instrumental in developing the modern folk song movement with its annual festivals in Berlin. FDJ members took part in international assistance programmes in aid of other countries such as Nicaragua, Mozambique and Angola, supporting vital projects there.

The labor theory of value, which did not originate from Marx, forms a central pillar of Marx's analysis of the capitalist mode of production. In short, it's this: labor adds value to a finished product which makes its final value greater than the sum of its raw materials and poduction costs. It is through this fact that profit can exist. Suppose a capitalist hires a worker at an hourly wage at market value, such that they are paid 10 monies per product made in an hour, to make a product that costs 20 monies in raw material and production costs but sells for 100 monies, then the worker has generated 80 monies of value through their labor but is only compensated for 10 monies of that generated value, letting the capitalist pocket a profit of 70 monies. So profit, then, is the excess value generated from labor which, instead of going to compensate the worker for the full value generated, is pocketed as surplus value. The ratio of compensation to profit is known as the rate of profit or rate of exploitation. Bear in mind that this ratio is different in every industry, firm, country, and community but generally follows that profit must be maintained due to the logic behind the capitalist mode of production: maximizing profit.
In our example, we see a worker compensated with a market wage of 10 monies per product (abstracted). In this example, the worker is "fully compensated" for the value of their labor in the market sense. That is, they are paid what the market agrees is a fair amount for their labor; the market price of the worker selling their labor for that job in that industry. However, there exists cases where this does not happen. Instead, the worker is paid significantly less than the "fair market value" of their labor. This process is known as super exploitation. In super exploitation, the worker is paid less than the market value of their labor and which allows the capitalist to pocket even more profit. Examples of this include plantation workers in Latin America, sweat shoo workers in Southeast Asia, ship crews across the maritime industry, and more. Note that while the vast majority of these examples are from the global south. Indeed, super exploitation is a key aspect of imperialism. Global south workers are paid significantly less than their imperial core counterparts due to several factors largely stemming from a weakened working class under the domination and control of imperialist powers through hard (e.g. coups or invasions) and soft (e.g. sanctions, "free trade" agreements, loans with restructuring, etc.) power methods. The reduced cost of labor in the global south makes them attractive to imperial core firms who seek to profit more and reduce labor costs. So, while global south capitalists benefit from super exploitation, they do not have the market power that imperial core countries have which allows them to truly reap the benefits of super exploitation. This is how bananas at a while foods in san francisco can cost a mere 19 usa cents per banana.
Here I must note that though super exploitation happens most commonly in the global south, it can also happen in the imperial core. Migrant or undocumented workers are exploited far more than their "native citizen" counterparts largely due to their vulnerable political-economy. Migrant farm workers in california, for example, work long hard hours for less than minimum wage solely because they do not benefit from the protections of labor laws. These workers are largely unable to agitate or organize against these exploitative practices because their political-economic position allows the bourgeois state to deport, detain, or otherwise halt their organizing. You'll also note, this is also a great case of liberalism in practice: the exception of certain groups from accessing the "universal rights and liberties" espoused by liberalism.

Are They Might Be Giants anti-communist? or just like Liberal?
i'm absolutely the wrong person to ask this question. unlike basically every trans woman i know i never really got into TMBG, so my knowledge is entirely based on infodumps from them. luckily one of my best friends has an encyclopedic knowledge of their work and made me listen to basically every single TMBG album over the course of a couple road trips (an experience i greatly enjoyed) with tons of commentary. most of which i haven't retained, but so. approximate knowledge here.
most recently this friend described johns flansburgh & linnell as having settled as "new york libs," but in the way you'd describe a well-meaning aunt or grandmother who's typically on the right side of history even if she doesn't always say the right things. again, huge asterisk here, i literally am just going on vibes based on a friend's special interest lore dumps, i do not read TMBG posts or keep up with their doings.
i do feel pretty confident in saying they're resolutely not anti-communist. i mean, The Communists Have The Music doesn't exactly strike me as a pro-capitalist anthem? whatever can be said of them today (again, not an expert), their first live show was at a Sandanista rally in support of Nicaraguan Revolution, and they've explored far-left themes/figures/events in their music since the beginning. they seem to be of the gen x disposition against making broad sweeping statements about the politics of their art or making that side of things the audience's business, which maybe contributes to the confusion? but this does not an anti-communist make imo
