MONO TO SHITEN - objects and perspectives - in kumagusuku August 3 - 28, 2022

The exhibition "The artist's point of view" focuses on the artist's private collection of "things" and production "objects" that are not usually exposed to the outside world, in contrast to the works that the artist presents voluntarily. Often, captions posted next to artworks in museums give a brief biography and background of the artist. These are inseparable from the artist's personal life, as well as from the works themselves, and are important information for understanding the works. Even objects that seem completely unrelated to the work may reveal glimpses of the artist's character and his/her ideas through the artists' "point of view" on the "objects".

"MONO TO SHITEN" is a shop dealing with everything from works of art to scrap wood. The shop sells not only finished artworks, but also materials before processing, used tools, scrap wood from the production process, and other objects that are less than works of art. The shop is a place to gain new "perspectives" from the many "objects"from the old to the new created by people.

物と視点企画展「作家の視点 vol.2_おかひろし, 栗原里奈」

kumagusuku 2F 「物と視点」企画展「作家の視点」では、作家が自主的に発表している作品に対し、普段はあまり外に露出しないようなプライベートな収集” 物 “や製作” 物 “に着目する展覧会です。美術館ではしばしば、作品の側に掲示されるキャプションでその作家の略歴や背景が語られることがありますが、作家の私生活とはやはり、作品とは切っても切り離せぬ関係にあり、作品を紐解く上で重要な情報であると言えます。作品とは全く無関係に思えるそれらも、彼らの” 物 “を見つめる” 視点 “から、作家性やその思想の片鱗が見えてくるかもしれません。

「物と視点」は美術作品から廃材まで扱う店。完成された作品だけでなく加工前の素材や使い古された道具、制作過程で生み出される廃材など、作品未満の物も並置して販売する、古いものから新しいものまで、人の生み出した数々の“物“から新たな“視点“を得るためのお店です。
