Shame, Shame, Shame (Para)|| Hestia & {Open}
Walking into the Great Hall, Hestia felt more than a little self-conscious about her costume. She never should have let Gwenog pick it out for her. The bumblebee outfit was near skin tight with a short skirt and thigh high tights. Her heels added enough height that Hestia was actually as tall as everyone else in the room. Making her way to the beverage table, the Hufflepuff tried not to be noticed, but it felt as though all eyes were on her. Ever since the gossip paper had printed the truth about her lost virginity, Hestia had constantly been ogled at by hormonal boys and sneered at by jealous girls. She even refused to eat in the Great Hall anymore unless her friends were with her. Grabbing some punch, Hestia snuck into a shadow on the wall, hoping to make it through the evening without being looked down on. Sipping her drink, she noticed Gwenog motioning for her. Hestia shook her head at her exasperated older sister, feeling slightly guilty that she was too embarrassed to hang around with her own flesh and blood. It wasn't Gwenog's fault of course, but Hestia was still ashamed even after she confessed to her sister everything that had happened in Greece. Hestia was so absorbed in her thoughts that she hadn't noticed someone was now standing beside her.

Remus: Are you trying to be annoying, or does it just come naturally?

mckinnxnisms :
Marlene sprinted down the corridor, her robes flying behind her and her book bag slamming against her side as she rounded a corner, her name echoing from the hall behind her. Grabbing the handle of the first door she saw, she flung it open and slipped inside, closing it behind her and resting up against it, panting as she tried to regain her breath. James could force her into 5AM runs and quidditch practice every day for the rest of the year, and she still wouldn’t be prepared to run away from Argus bleedin’ Filch and his hell cat.
Marlene moved away from the door, throwing her bag onto the nearest surface before drawing her wand out of her pocket and turning back. “Colloportus.” She muttered after retrieving her wand from her pocket, the door sealing itself with a squelch and her shoulder’s finally relaxing. It was only then that Marlene heard someone sniff and realised she wasn’t alone in the room.
Turning around, she had to move around the first couple of desks in the room before her eyes fell on Hestia, slumped against a wall with her head in her hands. Marlene was not a comforter; that was Lily’s area of expertise, even Mary was better than her at it, but the girl had looked up and seen her and she couldn’t back out now. Besides, this situation was still preferable to another detention with Filch for inappropriate activities in empty classrooms. Noticing a crumpled up paper in the girl’s hand, Marlene moved forward with her signature lack of tact and pried it away from her.
“Not you too.” She commented, shaking her head with a disgusted look on her face.
It took Hestia a several moments to process that Marlene was in the room and had locked the door. She didn’t understand the awkward look on Marls’ face or her disgusted emotions as she snatched the paper away from Hestia’s trembling hands. Realizing Marlene had spoken, Hestia opened and shut her mouth several times, trying to come up with a good response. Eventually, she just decided to close her mouth, aware that any sound she could make would either be a sob or a stuttering, failed attempt at an explanation.
She stared at Marlene for a few moments, debating whether or not to try to leave (although the odds of her getting past Marlene were slim to none). The sound of running footsteps came down the hallway, pausing for a moment before sounding off again. Hestia recognized the sound of claws scratching a nearby door and came to the conclusion that it was probably Filch and that demon cat of his. All of a sudden, Marlene’s panting and flushed cheeks made a lot more sense.
Simply looking down into her empty hands, Hestia managed to force the words, “Page f-f-four, second r-r-row d-d-d-down,” out before she collapsed in on herself. Pulling her knees to her chest, the Hufflepuff watched Marlene’s face through her tears, looking for any emotions that might appear on the other girl’s face.

“I thought it would be easier this year since there’s no OWLs or NEWTs.” Lily said and sighed. “But teachers are already talking about NEWTs and our futures and that is so scary.”
Tumblr media
Hestia nodded in agreement. She loved how often Lily and herself were on the same page. “I thought the same thing,” she commented, “but apparently not.” Readjusting her bag on her shoulder, Hestia sighed. “I just have no idea what I want to do with my life.”

Hestia stared down at the paper in her hands. How could anyone have possibly known about what happened in Greece? She hadn’t told anyone, not even Gwenog. Her hands shook as she read over the words again, tears welling in her eyes.
It took Hestia a moment to realize that she was standing in an empty classroom, staring at a gossip paper, crying. She could feel her breathing stutter as she fought back the panic that was settling over her. Had someone seen her with Dimitrios over the summer? Hestia slid down the wall, cradling her head in her hands.
The Hufflepuff was too caught up in her thoughts to notice that someone else had walked into the room.

“I caught two professors having a heated make out session in a classroom and now I’m really regretting trying to hand in my homework early.”
Hestia stopped for a second, then broke out laughing. She doubled over, clutching her sides. “Only you would have that bad of luck, Greta.”

“Great!” Lily said excitedly and started walking towards the library. “I can’t believe that school just started and we already have so many assignments to do.”
Tumblr media
Hestia snorted at Lily’s comment, but did not break her stride next to the other girl. “It’s like they’re trying to kill us,” she joked. She knew it wasn’t true, except for maybe potions, where it seemed everything wound up exploding. “I just hope I can keep up this year.”

“No, of course not. I was bored anyway– lead the way.” Marlene smiled at the girl and followed after her.

“Thanks,” Hestia replied, leading Marlene to the Hufflepuff dorm. She weaved her way through the bustling crowd of students, checking ever so often to make sure Marlene was still behind her. As they walked past the entrance to the kitchens, Hestia turned around. “Have you ever been to the Hufflepuff common room?”

Hestia smiled over at the other girl. "Thanks, Lils." She smirked at Lily's enthusiasm. Some days it felt as though Lily was this bundle of sunshine. "I would love to join you!" Hestia replied, hooking her arm through the red haired girl.
Hestia sighed, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. “It’s alright, Lily. I just keep all of my notes in my book. I’ll be fine for today.” Standing up, Hestia looked Lily over quickly. She looked the same and different all at once. “So, where are you headed?” she questioned, trying to remove herself from her constantly busy mind.

“It’s so lovely to see you again!” Greta smiled and broke the hug after a moment. “It was really nice, I loved seeing my family again. I spent most of my days in my mother’s shop or helping out on the farm with no magic in sight. It was.. refreshing, I guess you could say. How was yours?”
Tumblr media
Hestia couldn’t help the smile that spread across her face as the hug broke. Greta had been one of the people she had missed the most over the summer. “That sounds really nice. I can’t imagine being around my parents without a tea kettle nearly flying into my head every five minutes,” she laughed. “It was pretty great. We went to Greece to visit family.”
