i am sorry but if you are known for thinking that mha fell off because it went into the 'touya needs his father' direction instead of the 'avenger dabi' direction, you saying that the story is 'sucky' lately doesn't mean shit

People who get so heated about the toshiro-laois fight that they think toshiro genuinely hates laois are incredibly silly to me like. yes laois gets on his nerves and the fight came about because toshiro let a lot of annoyance simmer for a LONG time instead of expressing his feelings but once that tension resolves through their stupid fight he is able to see more clearly and realise he does not HATE laois, he ENVIES him. It just seems like such a blatantly obvious part of his character that people just can't grasp for some reason?? You don't hate someone and then talk to them about your unsaid feeling for his sister and give him a bell to ring if he needs you. You can dislike whatever characters you want but I can't stand when people mischaracterise characters to such a huge extent. Learn some basic media literacy.

All For One: Depression? What depression? The only depression I feel is watching these pathetic, wounded heroes encircle me. That's all. Human emotion is beneath me. Also All For One: I think I heard Yoichi's last traces on this world disappear, and all the world has lost meaning and color. This is fine. I am absolutely in the prime of mental health. What is this "SSRI" you speak of?

TOUYA IS ALIVE (for now, at least)
the leakers said that it was rei being taken away on the stretcher but it was touya being taken to the recovery girl. natsuo wasn't saying that it's rei who got exhausted while helping the injured, he was talking about the recovery girl.

the way i know exactly what fanfic you're talking about and GOD, SAME. doesn't help that the rest of the author's works with #that theory became genuinely worse as the time went
the amount of influence that one story had amazes me. all the popular blogs/fic writers that were proponents of that theory from back then claimed to have all been inspired by that one fic. the fact that the theory even got popular in the first place was because of that one story, and the tropes I still see popular among those type of theorists today were derived from that one story; good dad who would never hurt his son, villain genuinely falls in love with normal woman, kid from that union being the most important thing in villains life etc.
and looking back at that story it's just meh... and the quality of their other works with that theory definetly have declined. particularly hate the way they treat tomura, you can see their barely disguised loathing for him in their works.
it's so frustrating though because people still cling onto those ideas inspired by that story even when canon shows clearly that they were very ooc for him. there's some of those theorists that have this attitude that afo can't be interesting without that theory becoming canon which is so stupid. afo is such an fascinating character from his relationship with tomura to yoichi to his own attitudes on life and society based off his own experiences as a child. he doesn't need some dumb outdated theory to be interesting, he already is!
but for them that isn't enough there has to be some star wars type drama with good dad stuff or else they would be upset. I just think it stems from people's inability to let old fanon characterizations go. we see it with other characters such as dabi who people had a set favorite fanon personality and when canon went against that fanon concept people got upset and still cling onto their own fanon dabi because they don't want to let go of something they like. it's just irritating when it's so popular and they act as if it's better than canon when a lot of times those fanon characterizations fall on the same old boring tropes.
and to be fair, the first story was made when we barely knew anything about afo so I don't blame people for thinking that it could be canon at that time. but with everything that has happened so far it's really baffling that people really think there's still a chance for it to be canon and that there's a good chance for afo to be the good dad they want him to be. I see those theorists almost every chapter afo is in doing everything they can to find clues to support their theory when in reality there's nothing to find. there is quite literally no reason for afo to withhold that kind of information right now, he literally has nothing left to lose. yet every chapter they come up with some reason as to why he hasn't and that "the reveal is coming any day now!!!"
I remember when 419 came out a lot of those theorists got upset because it looked like afo was about to kill izuku and somehow got it into their heads he was actually was trying to give him a quirk which lol but also I think the denial stems from the fact that they don't want to admit afo doesn't care about izuku. that good dad afo is still possible despite everything. nevermind the fact afo's interest in izuku begins and ends at him being an ofa holder. but as I said some people just do not want to let fanon go and want it desperately to be canon.
but yeah I do blame that one story for all of this, I hope one day afo gets freed from those terrible mischaracterizations. unfortunately I think that one story's influence runs too deep for him to be fully freed, but at least more people talk about afo outside of that theory. back then it was very rare for anyone to talk about afo outside of that theory on here so majority of the afo discussion, art and fics were of that theory. nowadays it's much better which I'm grateful for. still it frustrates me to no end how afo is forever tied to it and how popular it became. I wish it wasnt this way.

Yes, yes, and once again, yes. Congratulations, you somehow went and put into words all the feelings and thoughts I had for that theory and #that fanfic for years.
Just wanna add that the weird palpable dislike they have for Tomura (you know, they write him mostly with his early s1-3 characterisation as if we didn’t learn more at this point, but also even when they do use more recent information about him they add weird ass things to it, like Tenko killing his family on purpose) is probably due to the fact that his existence is a direct proof of the fact that AFO is an abusive groomer who is incapable of being a Good Dad(TM). So they just completely ignore that and put the fault for Tomura being the way he is on, well, Tomura. The author has a weird relationship with ‘bad’ victims of abuse in MHA in general, considering how they write Dabi and Todoroki’s relationship with him.
The worst thing is that I noticed this is a bit of a trend with DF1 theory fans. A lot of them HATE Tomura. For the very same reasons, I think. Or perhaps it’s just another example of people having troubles with understanding characters in general, including both Tomura and AFO.

Congratulations to Marcille DungeonMeshi for achieving Pathetic Little Man status on tumblr, a hard glass ceiling for many female characters to break. I look forward to calling you my sopping wet beast and poor little meow meow for fandom days to come. Keep trucking babygirl, you'll bag Falin one day
