Concrete Slab Foundation

In addition, these types of foundations may not be suitable in places prone to hurricanes and flooding.
Basement Foundation
Basement foundations are built using a perimeter of concrete pillars to support the home’s structure above ground. This house foundation type can be greatly beneficial because it provides additional square footage to the home and can provide a multitude of options on how the space is utilized. However, basement foundations come with drawbacks of their own. Basement house foundations are the costliest option of all the home foundation types and are prone to issues like moisture, mould, and flooding. When choosing this type of foundation, be sure to evaluate the costs and the area it will be situated.
Crawl Space Foundation
Homes with a crawl space house foundation are elevated a few feet off the ground. Like a slab, a footing is poured, and then blocks are laid to create the foundation to support the walls of the structure.
Building a crawl space foundation will save on cost compared to a basement, but not necessarily time, as they take about as much time to build as a full basement foundation.

Basic Joinery for Woodworking
Woodwork joinery is one of the most basic concepts in woodworking. If we couldn’t join two pieces of wood together in a solid fashion, all woodworking pieces would be sculptures, carved out of a single piece of wood. However, with the many varied types of wood joinery, a woodworker has several different joints in his arsenal from which to choose, based on the project. If you master these wood joinery concepts, you'll be well on your way to becoming a very accomplished woodworker.
Butt Joint: Joining two pieces of wood, either at corners or edge to edge. You can make it stronger by using glue blocks or screws.
Dowel Joint: You need to drill aligning holes in each piece of wood and then glue the dowels for a tight joint. You can use a centring tool for achieving perfection.
Miter Joint: You can create this corner joint by sawing one end of each piece of wood to 450. Accurate cutting is needed.
Dado Joint: This type of joint can be observed on the bookshelves. In this joint, one piece receives the end of the other one.
Lap Joint: Cut the rabbet in the overlapping piece of a butt joint and add glueing surface and more strength.
Tongue-and-Groove Joint: Cut a groove in the edge of one piece and a tongue on the other to fit into the groove. You can notice some wood shrinkage in this case.
Mortise-and-Tenon Joint: A strong, traditional joint that can be made even tougher by adding a peg. Not all mortises go all the way through.
Through-Dovetail Joint: There's not a better-looking joint, nor one that requires more patience and accuracy to cut. The interlocking feature makes it strong but adds visual interest.
