Riley accepts this answer, even if she may not fully understand it. She wishes it didn’t have to be this way for Maya though, she wishes her best friend could’ve gotten as lucky as her in the parent department. She could never imagine a world where she’d have to cut off contact from them. “Alright, as long as you’re sure. Then I support you and I just hope this makes you happy.” At the end of the day that’s all she ever wants, for her friends to be happy.
Maya gives her a soft smile, she knows that Riley is trying even if she may never truly understand the situation, or the feelings that come with it. The blonde admires her friend for listening and not passing harsh judgement on her. “I’m hoping it makes me happy too,” Maya beams, “It would be like, starting fresh - starting a new. Even if I still, in the end - have a few advantages in life.” She’s not stupid, she knows that money tends to drive the world and if you have more, the further in life you’re more likely to become - it’s the influence of the money or the need to be praised.

If there’s one thing people can always ascribe to Farkle Minkus in his infinite confusions, its clarity. He’s always as precise as he can be, when he’s not making broad sweeping proclamations, perhaps even when he is. But he means what he says, bravado aside. So when he’s spent these years telling Maya he loves her, he’s meant it. He’s meant it every single time. He spent the time loving her and Riley in equal parts, trying to even them out in his head when necessary. But sometimes equal doesn’t mean the same. Ever the scientist, that’s what he’s still trying to work out. “Good.” He nods, glad she knows.
But at her question, he quickly wrinkles his nose, taking in the depth of her words before he answers. “Not wrong at all, Maya. People don’t tell us they love us enough, do they?” He knows that feeling more than most may realize. But she’s seen his house, met his parents, so it’s likely not news to her that he feels unloved at times. He thinks she knows that feeling more personally too. “I love you, Maya Hart. I always have, always will.” I love you is a promise, one that he’s seen broken, like when his mother throws her wedding ring, but he doesn’t intend to shatter his own oaths.
Maya didn’t have a lot of stability in her life - not with her mother’s constant jobs and her practically either having to follow suit or she’d be with the Nanny her mother hired up until she was fourteen years of age. So, Farkle’s love being constant in her life is something that she finds herself clinging too ; even if she doesn’t want to admit it out loud that she craves it. “That they don’t. Sometimes they think we just know but it’s nice to hear it confirmed now and again,” Maya comments with a smile playing on her lips.
She doesn’t let that smile fade from her lips, “I love you too,” Maya knows she doesn’t say it often - but those she does say it too, she really means it. She’s not said those words to her mother since she was very young. “You’ll always be within my heart.”

Riley really wants to immediately tell Maya that it’s a bad idea, that she shouldn’t just cut her mother out completely, the part of Riley that just wants to fix everything and wants things to always be okay. But she also knows the complicated relationship Maya has with her mother and knows that might not be the best advice. She thinks it over carefully before answering. “I think … you should do what you think is best for you, peaches.” She starts. “But you should also think about it really hard and make sure it’s not something you’ll regret in the future.”
There is a soft nod of Maya’s head as she listens to her Riley. She knows that Riley probably doesn’t truly get it - she has a wonderful relationship with her parents compared to Maya - though Maya will never hold that to either parties, the only ones to blame are her own parents. “For me to get where I want, I think it’s best.” She doesn’t want people thinking she got everywhere because of her mother. It sucks that she knows that is how has gotten here so far. “If I go no contact, I could contact her again. I don’t see the issue.”

Maya 100% knows she's a nepotism child, in fact, as she grows older she points it out. Says that I got that part because of my mother. She's open about it and also states this is why she is straying away from acting, unless she herself goes for the role, and generally in projects with little connection to her mother. No Longer taking roles from people close to her mother, only taking roles that she wanted to audition for
