“We’ve got a lot of time.” Her stomach had butterflies that his smile was so big. It made her feel all soft inside that he was hugging her tight too. He was usually teasing her, this sweetness he had towards her was refreshing, even if it didn’t last very long. She shyly tucked her hair behind her ear and chuckled. It was nice while at lasted. “I missed you too, as much as you can miss a Hawthorne.” To her, that was a lot, not that she’d tell him that.
“Just had to leave home for a little while.” Shyly speaking. She’s so pretty, the way she laughs is endearing. How can he even pretend to deny it anymore. That’s what frustrates him about the girl though, he’s never been so caught up on a girl before. He doesn’t even want feelings for a girl. And here he hasn’t been around her all this time and he yet feels the same. “Good to know.” Amusingly smiling a little, the heat in his cheeks fading some. “Sooo.. what’ve you been up to?”

I missed you so much.” Hugging the blonde girl tight after his arms lift to wrap around her, it’s only then he realizes he just admitted that. Gently letting her go, cheeks tinge pink. “I mean, as much as one can miss an Everdeen.” Seam colored eyes looking at hers before slowly falling downwards, anywhere but at her.

“Yeah, it is. But.” Glancing down for a moment, but he’s aware of how many people did die and God is the only thing that’s kept him alive to this very moment. He easily could’ve been one of them. Looking back up at Gale, Rory stretches his arms out, leaning forward to hug his brother without a second thought. He’s never been good at showing affection, but he doesn’t even have to think about how to show him he loves his older brother in that moment. Closing his eyes for a second just to appreciate he’s able to hug him before he’ll open them again and slowly pull back, thinking on it for a second, “Um. Juice.” He’s hungry too, but more thirsty than anything.
Gale lets his brother take in the new surroundings, things they didn’t have access to properly in twelve. Not this nice, anyway. Gale’s own seam grey eyes find his little brother’s again and he nods. “Yeah. Yeah we did, but we’re okay. And our family’s okay and that’s the important part, right?” He hopes his words are enough of a comfort. This entire situation has left Gale unsure how to proceed. Things in thirteen are SO different than he’s used to, easier even, but he can’t stop trying to be the sole provider, not now. “You need me to get you anything?”

Though, while he’s being sincere about that he’s actually thrilled she asked for other reasons. Simply because he might have the biggest crush ever on the youngest Everdeen but he would never admit it.

The smile that Rory brought to Gale’s lips was short-lived. Gale wasn’t quite sure how to tell him about the most recent events, but he knew he had to. “Listen… there was a bombing, in twelve… not very many made it out. Mom and Vic and Posy are alright, they’re just getting everything settled. We’re in district thirteen right now. Turns out it’s a real place,” he said with a small smile.
The bombings, his brother isn’t making that up. He knows that for a fact. He saw their entire home explode right before his eyes. That makes sense now, he thought he was dreaming of it. It was certainly nothing an eleven year old should’ve ever had to experience. Sighing of relief when he hears their family is okay, but the boy is almost shocked that they are. He isn’t sure how they survived. “Thirteen?” Seam grey eyes suddenly looking up at the hospital ceiling, like he has to observe the fact he’s in a place he thought didn’t exist before he’s looking back at his brother and swallowing. Not sure why he has to ask but he does, “Did we almost die, Gale?”

Other than a bad headache.” Reaching up to rub his pounding head, feeling a bandaged. Caused by what he imagines is the last thing he remembers, which is a gigantic board coming down and hitting him in the head. “Where is everybody?”
