It's fucking humiliating to be in my 30s and be unemployed for 11 months with no real prospects of a job in the immediate future. I hate this. I have two degrees and 12 years of experience in the workforce, it shouldn't be this hard.

Astrology people are so fucking annoying and I hate that just about every queer person talks about this pseudoscience as if it's determinative or even just a harmless fun activity instead of a symptom of anti-science and anti-intellectualism. It's also a search for spiritual fulfillment in an age where everyone and queer people in particular are moving away from organized religion, I get that, but take up Buddhism or something, stop telling me that your behavior is determined bc it's Pisces season or whatever. It's not. It's not real.

7) Fantasy monarchy arranged wedding AUs
8) Any slavery dynamic
Keeping in mind that YMMV, here's my list of fanfic tropes that only deranged people like:
1) Alpha-Beta-Omega.
2) Accidental pregnancy
3) Sex worker/stripper/porn star AUs
4) When they make up an OC that is their favorite character's child, and it gets weirder if there are multiple fics with this character that they just made up whole-cloth out of nothing and tag the fic with the OC's name as if we're supposed to know who the fuck that is
5) Phone sex, especially phone sex line operators.
6) Romcom covid-19 quarantine AUs. Fuck you guys, six million people died. It's like using the invasion of Iraq as a set-up for a meet cute. Don't trivialize global mass death events. Some things shouldn't be uwu-ified.

Do the children of the internet know that burning/destroying books itself isn't bad, it's the attempt to erase the information in the books that's bad? Like, you can tear up a book for an art project, it really doesn't matter. It's not the destruction of the book as object, it's denying access to the information in the book, the validation of the subject and advances in research that can be found in the book. I feel like this is obvious but the way some people on here talk makes me question that assumption.

kitten i have to be honest your misunderstanding of what 'death of the author' actually means is getting embarassing and mommy would prefer if you posted less or maybe attended some classes on literary analysis

I shouldn't be surprised that on the contrarian bad taste website my favorite in the vintage hot ladies bracket is losing in round 2 but COME ON, TUMBLR

Too many people on tumblr think every little thought they have on a given topic belongs in the same post so I'm out here having to skim a 3000 word essay of faux-profound purple prose reblogs on posts that are usually pretty concise. Learn to edit, guys. Just get to the point

What is very funny to me is that some 40 years ago Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett decided to put some casual queer rep (a classic Gaiman move, btw) into their parody of The Omen in the form of a fruity side character, and then 30 years later in a very different queer media environment that book got turned into a TV show and they had to expand the fruity side character and his best friend wanting to be humans into the main characters of the story and now all of the tumblr children think the resulting gay romance was the plan all along and they have a weird intensity and sense of ownership about it.
Good Omens is primarily about being human. It's not an epic romance shattering Heaven and Hell and religious dogma and all of the Biblical apocrypha and canon with intricate plotting and twists. All of that is a side note. It's about enjoying what you have on earth and fighting for the mundane beauty around you. The show is bigger than the queer romance because queer lives are bigger than their romances.
So stop harassing Neil about shipping, it's fucking weird.
