Little Intro Thing
I’m Flick! This is my Patapon sideblog, I’ve mostly been posting my Patapon art to my main and may continue doing so but I thought I’d make this to sort of like, compile all of it. I interact from @flicks-random-stuff and the dni criteria from there also apply here.

More spec bio stuff. Patapons have a mouth since they’ve gotta eat somehow! The “teeth” aren’t actually teeth btw, they’re not separately growing things but are just spiky protrusions along the edge of the mouth, like the teeth of a flytrap.

More Patapon specbio stuff! Baby ‘pons, ‘tons and karmen are called chicks because they’re somewhat similar to bird chicks, with their downy coats and all. Although a more apt name would be sprouts or seedlings, since in my head all 3 species are plants.

About Mater trees and how chicks are made:
Each species has their own ‘Mater,’ which is the reproductive caste of their respective species- think something like a Queen ant. Only the Mater of Patapons can revive the dead through their caps, though the trees of both Karmen and Patapons can produce fully-grown clones. All three trees can produce seeds that hatch into chicks.
Two parents will take tufts of fur or pieces of their caps, plus other materials, and bury them under the roots of the tree. After a while, one of the immature seeds on the tree’s branches will grow into a fertile one and drop off!
Given a few months, this seed will hatch into a chick with a mix of the parents’ genetics (which helps prevent low genetic diversity caused by just cloning or reviving the dead.) If one of the parents was a rarepon, the chick might be too! Species hybrids are also possible.
About chicks:
Patapon chicks are altricial, sprouted with eyes sealed shut and a covering of white down. They can’t walk for the first few months of their lives and require significant parental care. At several years of age a Patapon will shed it’s downy coat to reveal the bristly, stark black pelt beneath.
Zigoton chicks sprout already darkly colored and are precocial, capable of walking mere minutes after hatching from their seed. Their pelt is softer than an adult Zigoton’s, and at several years of age will be shed as they grow into their adult coat.
Karmen chicks are similar to those of Patapons due to both species sharing a recent common ancestor. The biggest differences are eye and coat color- Karmen chicks are a darker grey as opposed to a stark white.

(Small note about the flowers thing- in my general spec bio headcanons Patapons are plants, and while they don’t normally bloom in times of extreme hardship or stress they may blossom and produce a seed that grows into a Mater tree! This is incredibly taxing and sometimes deadly. Meden’s been around long enough and been through enough stuff that she’s started to flower, but in order to Not Fucking Die she cuts off the blooms before they can seed)
