“I absolutely can’t alter my route by a couple of planets just to drop you off.” Really, it is possible, but that isn’t the point here. It’s the principle of the thing. Let this one guy finagle his way into getting dropped off somewhere off the books, and next thing, the ship is taxing half of special forces across the galaxy.
Doesn’t sound like a good time in the long run, that’s for sure. “I’m not a shuttle service.”

There’s a reprimand about this not being a taxi service in here somewhere, but Luck doesn’t take it. The poor guy has probably heard it already. Besides--
“I’m always glad to accommodate a stray brother.” No questions about why he’s out here alone. Luck understands the rules of need to know with these special forces types. It doesn’t feel important now anyway. “Though, if anything goes missing off my ship, I’ve already blamed you.”

Early in the war, the still unnamed CC-7777 managed to get most of his command out of a scrape that, without his quick-thinking, level-headedness, and sharp wits, would’ve otherwise annihilated them all. A non-clone officer, shortly afterward, commented, “Luck got you out of that one.” Perhaps it was meant lightly, but it rubbed the commander the wrong way.
Angry but always the quintessential offer, he limited himself to the bitter response, “Then I must be Commander Luck.”
He didn’t intend to name himself Luck; it was a throwaway line meant to remind that he works hard to keep those under his command safe, but the story spread through the unit and they started calling him Luck.
He doesn’t believe in luck. There’s only hard work, preparedness, ingenuity, and seizing opportunity when it presents itself. The only luck is that one makes.
It’s a good name, he eventually decides. He’s his own luck.

Luck has a burn scar on his cheek, from when his previous ship Fortitude was overrun and a droid’s blaster bolt narrowly missed him as he turned to return fire. Very narrowly missed him; Luck, however, did not miss.
