I’ve had two new business opportunities recently. A lifestyle shoot for a company called Patapaca, an alpaca wool sock company. I am also in contact with Peregrine Clothing to do a shoot for their new ss20 clothing range. Both companies are sustainable and use recycled materials. Working for these two companies is beneficial for my freelance work as it keeps me working for companies that have the earth in mind. I want to work for companies that inspire sustainability rather than new wardrobes every season.     https://patapaca.com/

Looking forward after university I would like to pursue a more journalistic, documentative role in my photography. Me and my girlfriend have plans to purchase a camper van style car and travel through France when we are free to move around again. I think this would be a great moment to focus on combining writing and photography which is something I enjoy doing anyway. Along with this I have decided to create a Patreon account where people can subscribe/pay to see my work. This means that my work has more importance instead of simply uploading my work for free.

Today I had a meeting via Zoom (online facetime/skype app) with Tom and Will from Discover Salkan. We were discussing what to do with their blog and online magazine in the coming months. They are primarilly a travel company and due to the pandemic people aren’t going to be able travel for a long time.
Having recently written a piece for their new online magazine I was inspired to ask whether they’d be interested in doing something similar with photo essays more frequently.
I suggested that doing a monthly blog post that is sent out to their email subscribers would be a good way of keeping in touch with their community. They also have no reviews of their backpacks so I shall be working on a photo essay that focuses on that.
I’ll be working on the backpack review first as it’s brand focused but I can also make it more like a honest review. Then I’ll be moving on to more stories and keeping people inspired.
A good move forward for me and the brand.

I wanted to share something I am creating for the Discover Salkan magazine. I climb a lot and have been training properly for around 6 months. However because of Covid-19 I am unable to visit climbing gyms or visit outdoor bouldering spots. So I am using the drystone wall to train on...

Professional Practice Update - I am working on a magazine piece for Discover Salkan, a backpack company that I work as a brand ambassador for. The magazine will feature work from a collective of different creatives and will have a vareity of different themes. The piece I am working on will focus on living simiply in times of distress, being creative in times of isolation and also on the company itself.
I will post a link to the magazine once it has been uploaded.

Things have changed slightly. In the past couple of weeks the country has gone in to Lockdown due to Covid-19. This now means university and my project changes ever so slightly. Luckily I am fourtunate enough to live with my subject and we even moved home during this tough time so I am surrounded by the family. My project in terms of photos is finished, I could keep going but for now there is nothing that can move the project forward until Poppy decides to go through counsling. That won’t be for at least 2 years, minimum.
So for now durning isolation I am focusing on doing small projects for myself and other companies. These will focus on life during isolation, what I do, how I deal with being unable to move around as much and how life is simpler because of it. I’ll also be doing work for Millican, Discover Salkan and Doomsday.
To continue to keep fit and healty for my climbing I am using the wall in the garden to traverse and create problems whilst using household frames to do fingerpull ups.
Living simply is quite nice.

A single image shot last week for Hiccup. This image is of Earnie’s baby shoes. I am happy to include more inanimate objects now as I think it helps explain the story and also ground it more in a fine art, gallerist way.

Yesterday we had a look at the different spaces for our exhibition. We’ve decided as a group that we will create a floor plan next week so that we can then start to decide where everybody’s work will go.
I have my eye on one particular space so shall start pitching for it asap. It’s the atrium wall in the entrance for the first room. It’s got a box/shelf already fitted and the wall is perfect for 3 a1 images to be centred. Also with the doors open there is a nice amount of natural light.

This is the only image I have of the space at the moment but the shelf can cover the plug socket which will also work well for the design I have in mind.
I’ll use the shelf as a home bookshelf to display the photobook but use objects that relate to the project. It will also mean I can fit in any smaller zines or prints.
