Roadhog is Maori????? What??

He’s Māori in the same way that Pharah is Haida.

His actual name (Mako) is te reo; he has tā moko in a couple skins (Islander/Toa); those skins also include textiles that are probably supposed to be tāniko, what looks like cartoonish versions of muka?, and masks that mimic traditional Māori woodcarvings (I do not know their names, I’m sorry); the hook is most likely supposed to be a reference to Māui; the pig motif is most likely a reference to kunekune, a breed of domestic pig from New Zealand; and according to the wiki, he also uses NZ slang?

Just like Pharah though, him being Māori hasn’t been directly confirmed and likely won’t be until Blizzard stumbles so bad on something that they get called out again. I’m looking at those skins and they literally give him darker skin, holy fuck. Blizzard REALLY hates indigenous people.

Note: I’m not Māori or Polynesian and this is just quick information I was able to find. If I got anything wrong, please let me know.
