When was the last time you felt brave?

I wonder how someone could be so brave. I'm wondering how they manage to live their lives despite having serious issues and big problems. How could they be so brave?

BOOK REVIEW: Something Spectacular by April Avery

Isabelle Dizon, A straight business course student, a prudent lady, and a responsible daughter. But she felt something lacking. She frequently felt she was conforming to her parents' expectations of who she should be, and she began to wonder if that was truly what she desired. She's about to graduate Magna Cum Laude, until she realizes that the course she chose doesn't seem to be going anywhere—because the truth is, it's not the kind of life she wants to lead.

Until she met a group of people from a chronically underfunded, nearly dissolved university organization as her uncertainty and longing continued, The Arcadian. Six university students who taught her the value of friendship, the courage that comes with following her dreams, the importance of living in the moment, and how to live according to her will. They helped her change herself and discover who she is while creating Something Spectacular.

Six University students also known as "The Arcadian" are; Pia Marie Mendoza, the Editor in Chief; Charlie Alvarez, the Associate Editor; Andrea Samson, a correspondent; Stephen Dela Cruz, layout artist; Lawrence Mariano, photojournalist; and lastly, Gavin Nicholo Delos Reyes, the official graphic artist of The Arcadian.

Isabelle's decision to join Arcadian was not easy; her parents were vehemently opposed. But she took the risk. Isabelle is a very family oriented daughter. That's why I loved how her character develop over the months and years she and Arcadian were together. Even though he is rich, he is smart and knows how to get along with them. Until she met Gavin Nicholo.

Gavin thought her to be BRAVE and everything will be alright, and to be BRAVE enough to show her true self and true passion. Gavin thought her to speak up for herself, break the rules necessary, to make herself prioritize for once.

It's okay to let people in, expose your deepest fears and greatest hopes, and leave the place you caged yourself in to find where you belong.

Arcadians are all happy, until Gavin left without saying goodbye to his friends, especially to Isabelle. Arcadian looked everywhere just to find Gavin. Until they found a medicine called Procarbazine.

It is a chemotherapy medicine used for the treatment of Hodgkin's lymphoma and brain cancers.

On Saturday morning, a day after Isabelle found out about the medication, They found Gavin's father, who told them that Gavin dropped out of school because he needed to be in a hospital because he was suffering from a brain tumor.

"Babes." CHAPTER 32. That hurt me as a reader because that one word had a big impact on Isabelle. Isabelle became independent but dependent on Gavin Nicholo. How could Isabelle tell him that she hated him for making her that way? That she is breaking seeing him like that. On a hospital bed taking medication and has cancer.

Even though Gavin is in a wheelchair, he still gave them the warmest smile. Arcadian is the reason why Gavin is fighting. Isabelle is the reason why Gavin is scared of dying.

The Arcadian always visiting Gavin every weekend.

They went to the hospitals rooftop. Shouting their dreams while watching the stars. Until Gavin said..

"Good night" , "See you next weekend?"

yet, he died at 12:30 AM.

A few hours after shouting their dreams. A few hours after he said he had a great day and he wanted to rest.

As a reader, I really find this story great. To be honest, this story made me cry for a week. And even though it's been almost years since I read it. it still hurts me.

It has a lot of life lessons. It encouraged me to always be brave. To always take risks and be yourself. That it's okay to be scared. That it's okay to feel, to cry, to range, and to mourn for emotions that have been hidden or dreams that are fading. We may be misfits, society's outcasts, but there's always a place where we belong with people who will understand.

People assume they have a lot of time. We often take things for granted because they will always be there. Life is short, and the universe is so vast. We are significant and insignificant at the same time.

Something Spectacular is about finding your true self in the midst of the noise of others telling you who you should be.

Anything could be an adventure..

BOOK REVIEW: I Love You Since 1892 by Undeniably Gorgeous

I Love You Since 1892 is a historical fiction that tackles about Carmela Montecarlos and Juanito Alfonso tragic story.

Carmela Isabella is a spoiled brat girl from the future from hierarchy of Montecarlos. One day she visited her grandmother and discovered that her great-grand mother had a striking resemblance like to her. And her name is Carmelita Montecarlos.

Carmelita Montecarlos is the youngest daughter of Don Alejandro Montecarlos and Donya Soledad Montecarlos.

Lola Carmina, Carmela's grandmother, said that Carmelita committed suicide by drowning out of love for Juanito Alfonso, one of the wealthiest residents of San Alfonso.

Carmelita shot herself because she wasn't aware of who shot her on the day of her wedding to Juanito. Carmela's journey in the first season begins after learning everything there is to know about Carmelita Montecarlos because that is when the second time the story of two people's love will be written.

ILYS1892 is one of my favorite Wattpad stories. Despite the evocative story, the author managed to include multiple plot twists that made me falI. I also truly appreciate the growth of the characters in the story, particularly Carmela Isabella. The way her character development also makes a difference when she came back to the present time, is something that I truly admire and has a big impact to me.

What I also like about the book is that it is a historical fiction. Anyone can better understand what happened by reading history. Reading historical fiction allows us to understand the feelings of the past. We keep looking for explanation and significance even when we are cognizant of what is happening.

The author keeps feeding the readers historical events that happened in our country that were not always taught in school. Choosing the historical fiction genre was a wise decision for her because, as a reader, I enjoy books that deal with historical events from the past. It allows my imagination to meld into the frame on the novel.

I Love You Since 1892 is a part 1-5 novel. It also has:

"Su Punto De Vista" means "His Point of View". This book is where the Point of View of Juanito Alfonso is written.

"El Tiempo Cura Todo" is a collection of unsent letters of Carmela and Juanito.

"No Mi Olvides" or Memorabilia is a book that tackles the inspiration of the author on writing novels and previous booksignings

A Reader to One Another..

I've always been a huge fan of fiction. I guess I've been reading books since 2015? I forgot the exact year. But I was in grade school at the time when I began reading with enthusiasm.

One of the books I've read is I Love You Since 1892 by Undeniably Gorgeous, a Filipina Wattpad author also known as Binibining Mia. Written on June 1st, 2016, and completed on April 27th, 2017. It chronicles the story of Carmela, a girl from the year 2016 who is sent to the year 1892, where she falls in love with Juanito, a prospective doctor and the son of a powerful gobernadorcillo. The book's prologue is just great. I was impressed by the author's expertise.

It made me realize that love knows no bounds. If you genuinely care about someone, you will stand up for them no matter how difficult the circumstances are, whether it means risking your life or not.

That book taught me a lot. If you want to read a magical and tragic love story, I highly recommend this book!

The second book I will be mentioning is one of my top picks in the "tragic" genre. It is Something Spectacular by April Avery. I'm really fond of tragic stories. I like how the author logically flows the events. I like how the author is able to express ideas clearly and organize her thoughts in a manner that the reader can easily understand. And how the book will impart a great deal of knowledge that you may apply to your everyday life. It talks about friendships and how you can cherish them. I appreciate how the character evolved as a result of character growth. From such cowardice to being brave despite all the horrible happenings in her life.

Characters thought the readers that we need to understand what life is all about, who we truly are, be bold enough to live it, and always be Brave.
