 stiles  shoots  him  a  wink  before  slipping  away,  crossing  over  to  the  door  just  a  moment  later.  derek  may  not  be  an  idiot,  but  neither  is  he  ——  he’s  been  around  werewolves  long  enough  to  learn  how  to  lie  to  them.  if  he’s  letting  it  slip,  it’s  probably  because  he  wants  to  be  caught.  maybe  the  desire  isn’t  a  conscious  one,  but  it  must  be  there  all  the  same.

 “  if  you  really  care  so  much,  come  with  me.  i’m  supposed  to  be  watching  you,  but  no  one  said  i  had  to  keep  you  here.  ”    if  he  brings  that  point  up  to  scott  later  on,  he’s  almost  positive  the  alpha  will  say  it  was  implied,  but  for  now  he  can  pretend  it  wasn’t.

 even  though  stiles  might  be  good  at  lying,  so  is  derek.  he’s  grown  up  in  a  house  filled  with  werewolves,  he’s  grown  up  having  to  lie  to   talia  hale,  he  knows  the  signs  of  people  trying  to  hide  things  because  he’s  been  on  that  side  of  it  a  lot  of  times.
