A content creator I really liked blocked me after I tried to educate her on the AI Art controversy.
So here’s a friendly reminder.
Boycotting AI means not using unethical machines or softwares. It becomes unethical once the machine trains with art that they never got the permission to use.
That includes:
1. character chat bots that steal from fanfics/books and more
2. voice generators that use VAs voices and those of other celebrities or even regular humans beings (side eyes TikTok)
3. Anime filters, Disney filters and everything else that turns you into an artwork (side eyes TikTok again)
And so much more.
Im so tired of people saying they are against AI and then consume content in which someone’s voice is used without their permission just because it’s entertaining.
You can’t pick and choose on this.
Okay but what is ethical AI? (edit)
Everything creators have consented to. Before you use anything make sure to read the policies of companies/websites that use AI in their space. But there are also some tools that are programmed in art softwares which can fall under the term. AI is defined by machines trying to simulate human intelligence, which goes beyond the fuckery creatives are currently exposed to.
Also don’t forget how dangerous AI can get if we keep normalizing the unethical usage of it. Take deepfakes. I’m genuinely tired of people not understanding how big this issue is.
