A New Space
It seems that life is bringing on a move earlier than expected, and I'm overwhelmed with anxieties of the unknown and entering adulthood when I'm literally just a girl... but alas. Let's focus on the exciting part: curating a new space.
I'm lucky to be moving with my friend who is just as delusional as me, and we've decided on a shabby chic South of France chateau aesthetic. I've been touring houses with a fabulous realtor who has been finding us--as he puts it--"grandma homes" for us to fill with our girly trinkets.
The vibe is lived in. Comfortable. Eclectic. Controlled Chaos. Quaint.
That bottom left bedroom belongs to someone in Batman? Might have to watch the movie now...
I'm so drawn to the rich, dusty colors. Deep purples mixed with fresh, mossy greens and dusty roses.
Headboard and Above the Bed Decorations
I love the contrast of heavy wrought iron bed sets with girlish lightweight drapery, or hole-y crochet throws. There is also something so stunningly gorgeous about a white painted wood riddled with paint chips and sanding.
Above the bed accessories as opposed to headboards are also hot. And economically viable. How else is a girl supposed to create her dream space while maintaining monthly closet shopping sprees?
Over the Top Lampshades
Lampshades are one of those things I've tricked myself into believing I could make after binge-watching lampshade makers on TikTok. I'm obsessed with the shabby chic style of these, and I think that style can be very forgiving and shabby on the top half when paired with a good base.
I am especially drawn to the chandeliers. We have at least three hanging around in the attic and basement of my house just waiting to be loved, but I'm not sure about the hanging situation at the new place. Hoping I'll be able to figure out some way to incorporate them
Tying it All Together
Finally, I have a surplus of lace curtains and crochet doilies from past moxie collections that I would love to put to use for a DIY like this. I think this style of curtains are especially fabulous while being pretty simple to recreate, and I could see this extending into table runners, pillow cases, etc.
I live my life by the motto 'When in doubt, cover it with crochet"
