tbh I've been learning Irish for a while (5-7 years) now and I'm still struggling with changing verbs based on whether it's past, present or future tense and I have no idea why. I just can't memorise the different words it bothers me 💀
That's your problem!! Don't memorise the words!!! Memorise the methods. If you memorise all the conjugations of ceannaigh, you've learned lile 30 words and 0 actual linguistic skill, verbs aren't like vocab where its about learning off, they're about understanding!
Learn the method not the result and you'll have a much easier time I assure you! And don't beat yourself up over it, if I came up to you and said "i go to the shop, what do you want" you'd understand i mean 'i'm going to', people speaking irish will get that too, it's not the end of the world! Language is a slow process

Mise Éire
Я Ирландия
Я Ирландия: я древнее старухи из Берри.
Велика моя слава: мной взлелеян бесстрашный Кухулин.
Велико и бесчестье: дети продали мать за бесценок.
Я Ирландия: я безродней старухи из Берри
Патрик Пирс. 1912

It is never too late to learn to speak Irish.
You do not have to be Irish to speak Irish.
Once you're out of school, there is no grammar police and most people are just excited to have someone to speak Irish with.
Incorporating Irish words into your day when you're not fluent (I have to go to the leithreas, throw it in the bruscar, that's a gorgeous gúna) is an act of decolonisation.
Helping people to understand the language is an act of love.
Gaeilge go deo ❤️
