I just started boom and apparently chastity is Daisy’s girlfriend?? Daisy calls her babe and she says she misses them and honestly my crops are watered , the sun is shining , my grades are good and my acne is cleared because of this!

Tbh I’m terrified that the agents of mayhem fandom is gonna get toxic really quickly.
It’s like we get some LGBT representation but it attracts some of the worst people on the planet. The ones that hate straight characters for their sexuality, where all you see is “omg none of the characters are straight” and just fetishise (that’s apparently how to spell it in my country I thought there was a z somewhere) the fuck out of these characters and ignoring their character developments, flaws and all that other basic human stuff just I gush over their “gay babies”
Braddock isn’t gonna get enough credit where it’s due just because she’s a gay POC.
I know it’s foolish wanting people to humanise fictional characters, but the people who bust a nut over diverse characters bleed that into real life. You see it all over tumblr, real people with amazing achievements only being recognised because if their skin colour or sexuality.
And for some reason diverse characters in media breeds a lot of negativity. Not from bigots who don’t want them existing, but fans who aren’t happy no matter what you do. One gay character has a character flaw? homophobia!!! More than one character is white? Racism!!!!! Female character goes through emotional issues? misogyny!!!!! Being stereotypical is bad, but not being stereotypical is also bad (see honey lemon from big hero 6)
And that creates a slippery slope where creators just won’t want to add diverse characters to their projects because they’d get more hate for including them than if they hadn’t. I made a rant about Bioware getting so much more shit for homophobia despite being one of the few game developers to have gay romances. It’s the dumbest thing ever. That worries me. I think seeing diversity is so refreshing and fun, but people who are advocating it are single-handedly destroying it.
