Identifying your target customer, and creating a customer persona a.k.a customer avatar, will be your next step after you find your niche.

What Marketing is all about?
According to the (American Marketing Association) Marketing is defined as the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large. In a nutshell, when you are marketing something, you need to communicate your value clearly and efficiently towards your audience. Marketing is all about having good quality conservation with your customer. To convince a customer, you need to build a mass trust and deliver authenticated messages to your tribe. If you cannot persuade a single customer with your value, you can never persuade a large crowd.
Who is a Better Marketer?
Experience alone is not a criterion, for being a better marketer, you need to connect different dots to market your products or service. When you want to target a new market, first, you must understand the people, culture, and languages they speak, etc. Once you know all these things, you can figure out what customer wants from you. Make sure your audience needs your service or products, don’t just come up with your self taught ideas and implement it, without knowing the market. Storytelling has been a recent trend in marketing the products and services to the audience. Being an efficient storyteller can make you engage better with your tribe. There is a success mantra that you can follow — Learn, Do, and Teach. When you teach, you understand things in a better way and don’t be afraid of committing mistakes.

Identifying the right target audience is essential for a successful marketer. You cannot target all the audience if you do so then, no one is your audience. For example, if you go out and shout, hey everybody, no one is going to respond to you, but if you call, is there any person who is called Mike in the crowd, the person with that name might react. So, in general, you are just increasing the chances of a response by narrowing down your target audience.

How to create your Customer Avatar?
Once you have identified your target audience, and if you keep on filtering the list, you will end up creating a customer avatar or customer persona. You can use demographics and psychographics to segment the audience and understand the customer avatar better.
Demographic segmentation divides the market into smaller categories based on demographic factors, such as age, gender, and income.
Psycho graphic segmentation provides valuable insights into consumer behavior. It gives us a peek at the motives, needs, and wants of users. With this information, marketers can better communicate with their target audience.

From this information, you can create a customer persona or avatar for your business. When you build an avatar, always try to focus on the center of the target.
Customer Avatar Example
Raj, who lives in Chennai, is a 24-year-old male student. His family supports him financially as he is still a student. He typically uses an android smartphone and windows personal computer. When questioned about the different eco-friendly products he knows, he said he is aware of Leaf Plates (made using leaves), Leaf Cups (made using leaves), Paper Cups, Paper Bags. When asked about the pricing of these products, he said he is willing to pay Rs 1- 3 for leaf plate, Rs 1- 3 for leaf cup, and Rs 5- 10 for leaf box. He also agrees to the fact that restaurants can charge extra for these eco products when they serve using them. Raj wants to buy these products from Kirana stores and Supermarkets. At last, he believes that Eco-friendly products can replace paper products in the future.
