I’ve been adding to my altars the past couple of days, now that I’m home from holiday traveling. I’ve been feeling a bit disconnected from my practice because of said traveling and just general end of the semester bullshit, and my way of dealing with feeling distant usually involves gifts lol. I added a few things to my Aphrodite, Apollo/Artemis, Athena, and healing altars, in addition to giving food offerings, which has helped me to start feeling more grounded 💕

It's my personal belief that just about every beginning pagan and polytheist who worries about upsetting their gods if they don't give enough offerings should go one or two months without giving any offerings but still politely ask their gods for assistance.
Why in the hell would I say this? It's simple, dear friends: it could hopefully show them that, hey, gods are actually a lot more chill and willing to help than mainstream paganism and polytheism would have us believe.
The gods aren't going to devour your soul for asking for their help. It's my opinion that they actually appreciate being valued and trusted enough by you for you to rely on them in your times of need. You don't need to feel guilty for asking for help - that's the main point of this post.

I have been struggling immensely over the past few weeks. It has been an emotional rollercoaster of ups and downs - an endless barrage of confusion, anguish, and despair. The last thing I've been focused on is my spirituality.
And still, Hermes was there for me.
I had nothing to give to him, no energy for offerings or acts of devotion, and still, Hermes put a hand on my shoulder and encouraged me to keep going. Still, he reached out a hand into the darkness and did his best to start pulling me towards the light. Still, he witnessed my suffering and lent a listening ear when I needed it most. Hermes was there for me, even when I had nothing to give.
And I make this post to emphasize something: deities aren't just in it for the offerings. People are welcome to get upset at me for generalizing, for not including every possible deity relationship scenario that I can, but genuinely, I don't care. Deities aren't just in it for the offerings.
So the next time you find yourself alone, afraid, and hopeless, please don't feel the need to hesitate to pray simply because you have nothing to give. Don't hold yourself back on asking for help because you don't have the energy to give something in return. A healthy relationship with anyone doesn't always ask for favors in return for support. Period.

I’ve (without really meaning to) taken a long break from worship, which happens occasionally due to mental health reasons, but I believe this was the longest since I started and I was experiencing a lot of guilt and whenever I thought about starting again I felt like I couldn’t form that same connection again because I hadn’t done enough.
A couple weeks ago I got an unexpected half day off because a class was cancelled and I decided to sit at a cafe and read this book I’m trying to finish that is an introduction to Greek history and mythology (relevant to my major), and later that evening I felt very connected to my gods again and prayed to Hermes and it was almost immediately answered.
What I’m getting at is your Gods do not want you to feel ashamed of yourself. They are forgiving and if you need breaks they will welcome you whenever you feel ready to return.

After a long, LONG while, I finally sat down with Apollo to have a proper time with Him. When it ended I tried talking to Him through tarot and it went like this:
Me: So, how'd you like our hang out today?
Him: It was lovely :)
Me: Great! Anything you want to tell me?
Him: Glad you asked :) *proceeds to give me the worst fucking spread I've seen in my life*
