Studio Ghibli will be like. what if you had no control in the adventure you were forced on. what if it was up to you to stumble blindly through the world your ancestor failed to balance. what if he tried to force the responsibility of balancing it onto you. what if you were made to let go of you mother (again. you didn’t get to say goodbye this time either). what if you remembered everything you were meant to forget.
and what if joe hisaishi went all out on the soundtrack
a team of the most skilled writers in the country couldn’t achieve the same visceral reaction to anything that this clip got out of me the first time i saw it
I see a post about how someone's cochlear implants cost $23 thousand dollars and even with insurance it's still over two thousand and I, having become wise to the internet, do NOT reblog it saying "that sounds so fucking sick, so you're basically forced to learn to hack your own tech because it's too expensive to upgrade"
I, veteran of social media, know that that would be a nearly fetishistic and certainly tone-deaf response to someone who needs these to be able to function in a society which is so thoroughly ableist.
I know this. And so I don't say it. I don't say it out loud.
my sister was telling me a bunch of facts she read on the naruto fan wiki and now i cannot get out of my mind how the existence of the akatsuki being the fault of konoha government employees giving people the tools to participate in violent political conflict to further the goals of the state only for said people to eventually use the tools they were provided to initiate violent political conquest of their own within a world made dysfunctional by said government's violent political conflict functionally makes the akatsuki ninja al qaeda
Wizard RPG that takes the Vancian "spells are demons made of math that live in your brain" thing to its logical yet absurd conclusion and casts the player character's prepared spells as a Disco Elysium style internal peanut gallery that influences dialogue trees and makes fun of your decisions. I want to get relationship advice from magic missile.
Matt's description of the original post ' I wrote this new program that numbers off the paths of particles through an image so that they can be woven together into interesting orders for pixel sorting.
This is my favorite program I've written in a long time, and I'm really happy with how this particular result turned out!The central idea at work here is the physics-based pixel sort that I mentioned in a previous post. However, in this algorithm, the individual paths traced out by the particles are each given their own number. By doing this, we can use modular arithmetic when iterating through these numbers to interweave the paths in all kinds of fascinating ways. This result simply puts all the even numbered paths in front of all the odd numbered paths, but by separately sorting the pixels by brightness than then writing that list into this woven physics-based list we can see the order of the pixels as vibrant contrasting strata. The light and dark ridges, as well as the way this pattern is unique to its seed image, remind me of a fingerprint.'
