They met at the battle nexus (like in TMNT’03) and Leo was immediately smitten (like in TMNT’03).
Raph finds his older brother being helplessly gay funny

Turtles count it off (in order of age)
Leonardo is the oldest at 18. He’s quite level-headed, and takes his role as big brother seriously. He loves swords and science-fiction, and is quite the Trekkie. He’s not very bright, but knows his way around a sticky situation. And, for the sake of rep, this version of Leo is gay.
Raphael is the second oldest at 17, but he feels treated more like a middle child. He’s pretty snappy at others and isn’t too good at social interaction, but he wouldn’t dare let any harm come to his brothers. This causes quite the clash between him and Leo when it comes to being the braver big brother. He finds comfort in soft things, and will often cuddle up in a nice big sweater or give Splinter a warm hug if he needs to calm down.
Donatello comes in as the second youngest at 16. He is real quiet and non-confrontational, only bringing out his Bo staff when he feels it truly necessary. He tends to pull all-nighters either hyper-focused on a project or watching his favorite anime (thanks Mutant Mayhem for bringing weeb Donnie to my consciousness). He does not like interacting with people, and rather prefers his privacy.
Finally, the baby of the family, Michelangelo is the youngest at 15. He loves all sorts of art and practically studies animated films and shows in his pastime. As the art/theater kid of the family, he gets a lot of requests (mostly from Splinter) to draw something, and he has a really tough time saying “no” to such requests. He has ADHD and is also quite extroverted, but something of a people pleaser. He bonds best with Leo over a love of Star Trek.

they also have a technical rat grandpa that mutated Splints into the glorious rodent he is
I wonder why no one acknowledges that the Rise turtles are all technically half brothers.
As turtles, they are all different subspecies (snapping, slider, soft-shell, and box), and thus they all have their own set of biological turtle parents. Through Splinter, however, they share genetics and are thus still biologically related, even if through sci-fi mumbo jumbo.
Not to say this makes them any less brothers. In fact, I find it funny, because if you’re to take certain head canons into account, think about just how many parents these guys have. There’d be at least two turtle parents per turtle, making eight, plus Splinter’s DNA mutating them thanks to Draxum, so that’s two more, and then if you want Big Mama and Splints to get back together, that gives us one more parent, giving at least 11 parents in total to these turtles. Not even taking into account the possibility that some of the turtles have more than one biological turtle dad.

I’d say my Usagi design is pretty much nailed (final one being the bottom left)
Maybe now i can get off my ass and actually draw those turts

So it turns out I have no idea how to draw turts
Thus, I’ve drawn my favorite boi showing off his drawings as a test

Still getting the hang of this Rise-esque style, but I decided to play around a bit with the design of mr. Samurai Rabbit himself, Miyamoto Usagi.
This version of him is meant to resemble the 2003 Miyamoto, as that’s probably my favorite version. In the 2003 TMNT, Miyamoto took a quick liking to Leonardo at the Battle Nexus, and bonded with him over the whole swordsman thing. He was portrayed as a younger, more upbeat version of the character, who paralleled a lot of Leo’s more serious tendencies back then. I also aged him down a bit. He’s on the younger end of 16, as in, he would have just turned 16 when the Turts met him.
As Rise!Leo is less of a respectable, stoic leader, and more of a teenage goofball, I decided to goofball Miyamoto’s character, but only just a little bit, to have some clashing and annoyance. He, too, likes to make jokes and is quite smug, but he takes the right situations seriously, and is prideful of his heritage.
He’s also a buff boi, but his muscles are hidden under those big-ass sleeves. I also gave him black spots because for the life of me, I just cannot draw a solid-colored character.
