My name is Dami Fawehinmi and I’m a creative artist. I’m the owner of a website and YouTube channel called Journals of Dami. Early September 2017 I hope to create a documentary all about LGBT+ women of colour, a small minority that faces an inaccurate or lack of complete representation of in the media. My aim is for this documentary to shed a light on the group within a beautiful community to bring more support and understanding. As a Queer Nigerian woman myself, this has been an extremely big taboo in my culture, which in my home country homosexuality is illegal. Growing up I saw very few LGBT+ women of colour in the media and I hope to change this for all generations to provide an image that many have not seen.

I’m from England and my documentary will involve several parts of the UK and the USA including States between Texas to LA for the first half of the documentary to be filmed in 2017 and states between Texas to New York for the 2018 half of the documentary, creating a complete documentary series. The documentary will be set as an interview style to talk about your own experiences as empowering women of colour. Then at the end the entire documentary will be a powerful statement of the true and beautiful image of the community the older and younger generation needs to see😄🏳️‍🌈💕 If you would like to be a part of this please message me on here or any of the contacts below!
