Hi everyone, my name is Madi (she/her), born and raised in Los Angeles. I currently attend school at the University of Chicago where I'm studying Business Economics and Cinema Studies. I'm really excited to be a part of the Girlie Action team this Spring!
What do you hope to gain from this experience?
I hope to gain as much marketing and PR experience as I can from this internship. I'm currently a part of my school's official music magazine, Firebird Magazine, where I write articles and run the social media accounts. I've also recently had more experience communicating with artists' labels and management, setting up press conferences, interviews, and live coverage. I actually was able to see Billie Marten through Girlie Action Media which was pretty cool. I'm excited to be on the other side (Girlie Action side) of the industry, and just kind of learn more about marketing strategies and how to make connections and network within the music industry.
What is the best concert you've been to?
This is probably a tie between Lana Del Rey at the Hollywood bowl in 2019 and the Backseat Lovers on their When We Were Friends tour. Lana Del Rey was the first proper concert I attended, and for that it will always be particularly memorable to me. It was also the Norman Fucking Rockwell tour which happens to be my favorite LDR album, and she brought out Jesse Rutherford to sing Daddy Issues which was genuinely spiritual for my teenage angst. The Backseat Lovers has been one of my favorite bands since they started out, so to get to watch them live for the first time was really exciting. I think this was also the first time I'd ever been in the pit which also elevated the experience. The lead singer/guitarist Joshua Harmon is a natural performer and the entire concert was just a culmination of fun and engagement.
What else do you love besides music?
I love spending time with my friends, yoga, surfing, traveling, cooking, fashion, and anything that involves gameplay. Mostly the friends part though; I feel like I can have fun doing anything if I'm with them.
What is my dream job?
My dream job would be to work for a music management company, maybe heading my own smaller label under a bigger team. I also think it could be fun to work in live music, maybe as a tour manager or live event producer.

Hi!! My name is Becca (she/her), I go to Rutgers University-New Brunswick, and I am from New Jersey. I am so excited to be a part of Girlie Action as an intern!!
What do you hope to gain from this experience?
Through this experience, I hope I gain more knowledge about public relations and the skills and strategies needed to be successful in this field. I am currently member of an organization at Rutgers called ScarletPR/PRSSA. In this club, I am able to learn more about public relations and meet guest speakers in the field too. I'm eager to begin to transfer the knowledge I've been learning and apply it to a hands on experience. I'm also very excited to learn more about the music PR industry itself and even find new artists or music to listen to by doing so.
What is the best concert you've been to?
So far, the best concert I've been to was Men I Trust! I actually went to see Men I Trust twice (so I guess it counts as two concerts). The last time I saw them was even better than the first time. They were both about a year apart, in the same venue, and it was so interesting to see how much they improved on the sound quality, lighting, and visuals during the concert. Those small changes really enhanced and heightened the experience altogether. The lead singer, Emmanuelle Proulx, has an angelic voice. Listening to Men I Trust live sounded just like listening to them on record.
What else do you love besides music?
Besides music, I love to read, crochet, and travel. Since I was younger, I was always a bookworm, getting in trouble for reading in class when I wasn't supposed to be. I have a huge book collection back at home and find myself reading nonstop for hours once I start. I also enjoy crocheting, a hobby I picked up as a kid. I refuse to read crochet patterns, though, and follow tutorials on YouTube for my crochet projects. Lastly, I love to travel all kinds of places. I love nature, so my favorite place I've travelled to in the US was Yosemite. For out of the country, my favorite place I've travelled to was Germany and Austria. I love the history in those countries that still remain and the old architecture and art itself is very beautiful.
What is my dream job?
My dream job is definitely to work in a PR firm. I'm still exploring the different sectors that I can work in for PR, but it would be a dream to work as a music publicist. I really have a huge passion for music, and it would be amazing to one day work for a client that I'm a fan of.

Hi! My name is Alyssa (she/her) and Iā€™m from Sebastian, Florida. Iā€™m super excited to be a Public Relations intern at Girlie Action! I earned a bachelorā€™s degree in Public Relations from the University of Florida, and Iā€™m currently pursuing a masterā€™s degree in Mass Communication at the same university.Ā
What do you hope to gain from this experience?
With this experience, I'm looking forward to diving into the creative sector of PR! Iā€™m grateful for this opportunity to explore the music industry and find new artists and songs to enjoy. I hope to learn how to turn my interest in music into a career. Also, Iā€™m hoping to gain more insight into the fabulous world of PR and publicity. At Girlie Action, Iā€™m excited to apply the lessons Iā€™ve learned in school to the real world and gain hands-on experience at an agency. Iā€™m confident that my experience with the people and work here will be inspiring.
What is the best concert you've been to?Ā
The best concert Iā€™ve ever been to has to be Taylor Swift when I was roughly 11 years old. At this time in her career, her sound was more country pop. This was one of the first concerts I ever attended, and it was an eye-opening experience. As I processed the initial shock of ā€œWow, Taylor Swift is a real person and Iā€™m in the same building as her,ā€ I embraced the magic of live music. Taylor Swift put on a remarkable show with elaborate sets, beautiful costumes and top-notch crowd engagement. The atmosphere of the concert was captivating, especially for a tiny Taylor Swift fan, and I was in awe at the sense of community. Iā€™ve carried this love for live music ever since then. My next concert will be Olivia Rodrigo on her GUTS world tour!
What else do you love besides music?
In a similar way to music, my other hobbies aim to transport people to different worlds and tell spectacular stories. For instance, Iā€™m an avid reader. I recently finished the 10 Percy Jackson books because Iā€™ve always been a Greek mythology nerd. Also, I love to watch movies and TV shows because they take me on countless adventures. I love to travel as well. Being able to explore new places and immerse myself in different cultures is a gift. I traveled to Portugal and studied abroad in Spain in 2022. Both trips were incredible. The next country I want to visitĀ is Greece!Ā
What is my dream job?
My dream job is something I'm still trying to figure out. Iā€™d love to work in entertainment PR, whether itā€™s in music, film or books. I love the concept of tapping into the purpose of a story and creating an authentic brand around it. I would love to have an international component in my career, in which I can travel, get to know an array of audiences and work in various cultures. One reason I'm a fan of PR is because it is such a broad field. Iā€™m ecstatic to work in different areas and discover what sparks my interest and fuels my passion for PR.

Hi! My name is Rafiah (she/her) and I am thrilled to be part of the Girlie Action team as a PR intern! A little bit about me, I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, I have a Bachelorā€™s degree in Sociology from Hunter College, Hozier will most likely be #1 on my Spotify 2023 Wrapped, and I'm a Leo ā™Œ
What do you hope to gain from this experience?
As someone who is currently on the path of switching careers from Education to Marketing and PR, I am eager to learn anything and everything! I want to learn more about the music industry and improve my writing skills. Publicity is such a fundamental piece in an artistā€™s success story so to be part of that and help artists grow is inspiring. I feel confident that Girlie Action is the perfect fit for me to achieve my goals.Ā
What is the best concert you've been to?
It might be recency bias because it was the last concert I went to, but Beyonceā€™s Renaissance Tour might be the best concert Iā€™ve been to. I went to her MetLife Show on 07/30 and it blew me away. There were certain points where you couldnā€™t even sing along with her because those vocals were meant to be heard in silent admiration (also I could not hit those notes). Her stage presence was so mesmerizing that my eyes were glued to her for 3 hours straight, no bathroom breaks, barely even picked up my phone to record. Ticketmaster caused hell on earth, but it was all worth it to be in that crowd breathing Beyonceā€™s air.Ā
What else do you love besides music?
I am a BIG film/TV girl. My bio on Instagram is ā€œzero hobbies outside of media consumption.ā€ Once I watch a movie, I log it on Letterboxd and once I find a show I love, I hyper-fixate on it for days, months, yearsā€¦ it really depends. In college, I was able to write my senior capstone on ā€œWhite Saviorism in Film.ā€ I have also found ways to incorporate other movies and shows such as Get Out (2019), Scream (1996), and Big Brother. Cinema and television are reflections of our society so what better use of my Sociology degree than to combine the two subjects I am so passionate about?Ā
What is my dream job?
I am still trying to figure that out right now, however, I do know I want to end up in the entertainment industry in some capacity. When I look at something like the marketing that went into Barbie and Oppenheimer, I know that I want to be a part of that. Working behind the scenes yet having your work and ideas showcased so publicly on such a large scale. To be the reason someone turns on their TV or buys a ticket at their local movie theater because of your marketing efforts. Thatā€™s the dream.

Hey! My name is Lauryn (she/her) and I'm excited to start at Girlie Action as an Intern. I am from Philadelphia, PA, and am a student at the Rochester Institute of Technology studying New Media Design.
What do you hope to gain from this experience?
As a designer, I always approached media from a design standpoint and that's where I have the most experience. I am looking forward to learning more about social media research, analytics, and writing while getting to learn about new artists and meeting new people.
What is the best concert you've been to?
I went to see The Weeknd in concert about a year ago. I have been listening to him for a long time and always appreciate the effort he puts into his projects. The concert was so well done and thought out. I had great seats and it is always great to hear your favorite songs live.
What else do you love besides music?
Art! I have taken a lot of art history classes and have become a fan of conceptual and Dadaist art. I love going to different museums and immersive galleries. I also enjoy hiking. I was a Girl Scout growing up and I'm always in front of a computer so I try to get out and go to a trail or park when I can. It is where I find most of the inspiration for my artwork.
What is my dream job?
My dream job would be to work as a product designer for a design agency so I'm able to work on different projects. Ideally, I would like to be a creative director for a company, concert tour, or movie series. I like jobs that allow me to do different things.

back n better
Hi!! Iā€™m Sasha (she/her/hers) and Iā€™m so glad to be back at Girlie Action, I interned in 2019 and Iā€™m back for more! Iā€™m pursuing a bachelorā€™s in Music Business at Solent University in Southampton, United Kingdom and Iā€™m from South Orange, NJ.
What do you hope to gain from this experience?
Iā€™m excited to learn more about PR strategies and the music industry in general. I would love to work in PR in the future and I think thereā€™s so much to learn. Also to apply what Iā€™ve learned in school and develop my writing. I would like to meet the other interns and I hope thereā€™s opportunities to meet everyone in person!
What is the best concert youā€™ve been to?
This is such a hard question! Iā€™d say one that I will never forget was seeing Beyonce at MetLife stadium. It was so many years ago but she is unmatched as a performer, I remember she sang and danced for like 5 hours without stopping. A smaller one I really enjoyed was seeing Tokky Horror, a electronic metal band in London. They just had so much energy, they were moshing with the crowd and had phenomenal stage presence. I got to talk to them after and they were lovely people as well.
What else do you love besides music?
I love making videos, photography, design, anything artistic really. Iā€™ve been working doing videography for the past couple of years and itā€™s been really fun, I hope I can combine that with music in the future. I love learning new skills and itā€™s always a plus when I can combine other artistic channels with making/listening to/being involved with music. I also absolutely love cooking and baking! (and eating :D)
Whatā€™s your dream job?
My dream job right now would be to work as a publicist in a music PR company, or something in music marketing. My second dream job would be to own a music venue or be a promotor/organizer for live events. Being a manager for a band sounds so interesting as well! There are so many options and I have many dream jobs but anything in the music industry would make me happy.

Hi! My name is Gus (he/him/his) and I am super excited to be starting my internship with Girlie Action.Ā  I am from NJ and I attend Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY.
What do you hope to gain from this experience?
I hope to acquire important skills that relate to working in the music industry.Ā  I have always had a great interest in music, so I want to learn about how the industry operates.Ā  Many of the artists that Girlie Action represents are among my personal favorites so I also want my work to aid and support their careers.Ā  I love going down music rabbit holes where I explore sounds and artists I havenā€™t heard before.Ā  Through this internship I hope that my knowledge of new musicians and what goes into promoting their work is expanded.
What else do you love besides music?
Aside from music, I love skateboarding.Ā  I only really picked up skateboarding a year or two ago but since then I have been practicing a lot.Ā  I also enjoy epee fencing.Ā  There are many calculations and strategy changes that need to be made throughout a bout.Ā  I donā€™t only enjoy thinking about my own moves, but also understanding how differences in focus can lead to other players developing distinct styles. I am a DJ on my college's radio station too.Ā  I have a lot of fun creating playlists to play on air each week.Ā  Not only is it fun for me to select songs, but I also like arranging the order to create the best flow.Ā
Whatā€™s your dream job?
I want it to have a focus on music where I will be able to explore what I haven't encountered so far.Ā  I am currently pursuing a history major and an arts administration minor and enjoy writing, so I would be interested in studying historical changes in the music industry and the developments/progressions of different genres.

Iā€™m Andrew (he/him) from Central New Jersey, and Iā€™m currently a Music Industry Major at Rowan University.
What do you hope to gain from this experience?
What I would love to gain from Girlie Action is experience actually working in the music industry after studying it for a few years. I enjoy bring in school for this subject, but I really love applying what Iā€™ve learned and actually being a part of the music community. Iā€™m also excited to meet like-minded people through Girlie Action and connecting with more fellow music lovers.
What is the best concert youā€™ve been to?
I have been regularly going to concerts since high school (only being stopped by the pandemic), so I have a lot of contenders. Seeing Godspeed You! Black Emperor was definitely up there, since their orchestral post-rock as well as video projection-heavy stage show was mesmerizing. Seeing Magdalena Bay was also another highlight because of their unreal energy and vibrant visuals. But if I were to narrow it down to one, I would say it was the time I saw HAIM. It may have been elevated by the fact that I was unexpectedly given general admission tickets mere minutes before their set started, but they put on one of the most well-executed and lively shows Iā€™ve ever seen. Everything from the setlist itself to the artistsā€™ technical ability was on point and could not have been better in my opinion.
What else do you love besides music?
I may not have been intro film as long as I have music, but since the pandemic Iā€™ve connected more with the medium. One of my favorite activities to do is to go out to my local independent cinema and watch whatever they have playing. Itā€™s there where I discovered films and directors that have struck a chord with me and made my interest in film grow even more.
Whatā€™s your dream job?
My dream job would be to work in the overlap of film and music (or sound in general). I am very interested in how both can reinforce each other, so anything from sound design to music supervision would be a dream position for me.

Hey! My name is Kate Beemer, (she/her/hers) I go to Rutgers University-New Brunswick, and I grew up in Maplewood, New Jersey. I am so grateful for the opportunity and canā€™t wait to get started as an intern at Girlie Action!
What do you hope to gain from this experience?
I am a Journalism and Media Studies major, with a double minor in German, and Gender & Media. I am an active member at WRSU, the official radio station at Rutgers, and a writer for the Daily Targum, the official student-run newspaper at the University. Through my involvement at the Targum and WRSU, I am lucky to have gained many opportunities to practice journalistic writing, press coverage, artist interviews, and more. I am passionate about music, media production, and learning more about the world of PR and Media, especially in the realm of the music industry. I am still very new to this field though, and I have a lot to learn. Through this experience, I hope to continue to explore my passion in these areas and continue learning about PR, promotions, media production, etc. Iā€™m really excited to connect with people that are knowledgeable and experienced in this area, and I am eager to pick up any new skills and knowledge that I can while interning. I am thrilled to be a part of Girlie Action this summer!
What is the best concert youā€™ve been to?
Hearing live music is probably my favorite thing to do, whether that's at a concert or a house show or even just my younger sister practicing guitar. I feel like I see live music so frequently that this answer changes all the time. But right now, the best concert that comes to mind is when I recently saw the band The Beths play at Union Transfer in Philadelphia, with Sydney Gish as their opener. I got to go with a peer from WRSU, and we were able to get photo passes and photograph both acts from the photo pit during their first two songs. This was an incredibly special experience on its own, as I had never gone to a show with a photo pass. But aside from that, The Beths and Sydney Gish are both extremely talented artists whose music I love. They sounded incredible live and it was an amazing show. Itā€™s awesome to see artists you love in concert when they sound just as good (if not better) in person as they do in their recordings. Again, it is not easy to pick just one concert because Iā€™ve seen so many talented people perform- but the Beths and Sydney Gish are definitely some of my favorite artists that Iā€™ve seen live so far.
What else do you love besides music?
I love to read and write, and Iā€™m really enjoying practicing writing in different forms and styles as a journalism student vs in my own independent writing. I love to travel and learn about new cultures and history. I minor in German and plan to study in Berlin for my junior year at Rutgers. Learning new languages is a major challenge but I do enjoy trying. I love meeting new people and seeking out new experiences. I love to spend time with my family and friends, especially my two younger sisters. I also love clothes and going thrifting. I enjoy water coloring and drawing for fun although I am not good at either. I love spending time outside, swimming, hiking, walking my dog etc.Ā
Whatā€™s your dream job?
Iā€™m not sure what exactly my dream job is, but I hope it will be something that allows me to travel, and be creative. I could definitely see myself working in journalism or the media world in some way, especially internationally. I would hope that I could continue my work with broadcast media production, as that is something I have found that I really love. If I had to say a specific job right now, I would say that my dream job is to be an international reporter / radio host. I am inspired by people who have created their own investigative podcasts, or who work in music media production/broadcasting, etc. Iā€™m hoping to find a more clear answer to this through more professional experiences, for example interning here at Girlie Action!

Hi!! My name is Emily (she/her/hers) and I am super excited to be working with Girlie Action! I go to Northeastern University, and Iā€™m from NJ originally!
What do you hope to gain from this experience?
Iā€™m really interested to apply what I know from marketing for my universityā€™s Live Music Association to what GA does, as well as learn a lot more about the inner workings of the music and arts industries as they have always interested me. I really value any experience in the music industry and the chance to contribute to the team. I also look forward to getting to know my co-workers!
What is the best concert youā€™ve been to?
This is a really hard question, and I think itā€™s going to be a tie. I saw Maggie Rogers this past February and everything about her set was so magical, sheā€™s been one of my favorite artists for a while so finally getting to see and hear her was amazing. I also have to mention Lucy Dacus in October of 2021, because besides her incredible talent, the way she interacts with audience members is so genuine. I also waited at the venue hours early with a friend to get close to barricade (I am super short so this is important) and got to know the other fans waiting, which was just a really wholesome experience and reminded me of how much community music can provide.
What else do you love besides music?
I love the visual arts, especially photography. I shoot for two different music magazines which is always an interesting and rewarding experience, and often gives me a different perspective on a show rather than just being in the audience. Being a graphic design major, drawing and digital design are hobbies of mine as well! I also love my dog, Teddi, and exploring Boston! :)Ā
Whatā€™s your dream job?
The dream would be concert photography for a publication or artist, but I would also enjoy doing any kind of visual art within the music industry (album covers, posters, merch, portraits, etc.). It would be so rewarding to develop a cohesive visual identity for an artistā€™s campaign that captures their vision and reflects them as a musician.Ā

What's up!! My name is Stephanie (She/Her/Hers) and I am SO excited to work with Girlie Action!
What do you hope to gain from this experience? My past work has dealt mostly with ā€œtraditionalā€ forms of PRā€” so lots of press releases, email pitches and background research. Admittedly, my skill set is a bit lacking when it comes to social media management. Although I have experience planning and formatting material for Instagram, I want to strengthen my skills as a creator and curator across all the major content platforms (Tiktok, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Spotify, etc;). SO many publicity efforts nowadays take place on social mediaā€”especially those concerned with music and art. Online content is a huge part of brand/artist marketing strategy, and I want to learn first-hand how to engage audiences through the use of digital tools.
What is the best concert youā€™ve been to? I saw St. Vincent in October of ā€˜21 during her ā€œDaddyā€™s Home'' album tour/era. I still think about that night, it felt a bit like a dream. I decided to drive to College Street Music Hall in Connecticut on a whim after missing the Radio City date (mind youā€”Iā€™m from Long Island). I strolled onto the line a good hour early, planted myself at the stage center and did not move an inch. I was arms-length away from Annie the entire night. I drove home at 2 a.m. and was wired enough to go to work just a few hours later.
ā€¦That show put me on a different planet. Only Annieā€™s guitar could cut through all the smoke. The live sound of ā€œDaddyā€™s Homeā€ was sultry, slinky and sleazyā€”oozing 1970s cool. ā€œConcertā€ isnā€™t enough of a description for what I witnessed. This was performance art.
What else do you love besides music? I am a foodie through and throughā€”partially thanks to my father who had owned an Italian restaurant for almost 30 years. I am all ABOUT trying new places to eat. Different flavors = different atmospheres. Stepping into a restaurant feels like entering another world at times. Of course, I venture out within reason. No room for a $100 brunch on a college budget.
I will say I also love to travel and discover new places. Iā€™ve visited 8 different countries in Europe and am more than ready to explore the rest of the world. Eastern Asia is fascinating to meā€”Japan in particular. Japanā€¦ just seems sick. The nightlife. The nature. The history. The food (obviously). Bucket-list material for sure. Ā
Whatā€™s your dream job? Tough to say what position exactly, but I know it's in music/art publicity and likely involves social media. As Iā€™ve gotten my feet wet in PR, Iā€™ve gained a particular interest in how artists build their brands and manage their images through digital channels. I love getting people excited about art through visuals and words, and I feel doing so is my strength. Any opportunity where I use my writing and design skills to connect people to music and entertainment would be ideal. It is amazing how social media makes amazing art much more accessibleā€”and Iā€™d like to work within a realm that makes that possible.

Hey! My name is Patrick (He/Him), I'm looking forward to being a part of the Girlie Action team! I graduated from Hunter College in 2021 and I am from Queens, NY.
What do you hope to gain from this experience?
Through this internship, I hope to learn more about the many facets of the music industry and begin my path of working alongside music. I am looking forward to helping artists gain success in their careers and a hands on experience is very important to me. Additionally, I am looking forward to getting to know my coworkers here at Girlie.
What is the best concert youā€™ve been to?
I have been lucky enough to see quite a bit of musicians I really love in concert. My favorites have to include Arctic Monkeys at Forest Hills Stadium, and the Strokes at Barclays Center. These were two groups that I have always wanted to see live and attending these shows felt very surreal. hearing live music is certainly an experience unlike just listening to records and it brings people together in a special way.
What else do you love besides music?
Besides Music, I really enjoy travelling, fitness, and film. I visited Ireland this past summer with a bunch of my friends which was an experience I'll cherish forever. I also used to run Track and Cross Country at my college and try to get some running in every now and then these days. In my spare time, I love watching movies with my friends and I try to see them in theaters whenever I get the chance.Ā
Whatā€™s your dream job?
My dream job would definitely be within the music industry whether that be through publicity or some other route. I am so excited to learn more about the PR side of the industry through the internship. I am also a musician myself and I will always try to write and record music for as long as I possibly can.

Hey! My name is Ryan (He/Him), I am very excited to be starting my internship at Girlie! I am a recent graduate of Syracuse Universityā€™s Bandier Program, and I am also from Syracuse, NY.
What do you hope to gain from this experience?
I hope to be able to use my experiences as well as gain new knowledge to help the company and team that I work for thrive in an ever-changing industry. It is my passion to lift others up and in doing so ensuring everyone around me succeeds.
What is the best concert youā€™ve been to?
This is a really difficult question because it makes me choose just one. It is a toss-up between Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney, and Billy Joel. I would have to say Sir Paul because the first time seeing him was an experience like nothing I have ever had before. The second time seeing him just reminds me why I love music and want to work in this industry.
What else do you love besides music?
I love video games (especially ones with incredible soundtracks) and I get to meet so many amazing people through this. It allowed me to create an ever-growing community where I meet people from around the world. I also love spending time with friends and family especially at social gatherings where I get to be the DJ for the day.
Whatā€™s your dream job?
My dream job that I have been working towards is a position in the music industry in NYC where I can dedicate my time doing the work that I enjoy for a company that I am passionate about and proud to work for. A literal dream I had recently was that I started a nonprofit helping people through the company that I worked for.

Girlie Intern!
Tumblr media
Hi! My name is Sophie (she/her/hers), Iā€™m super excited to be starting my internship for Girlie Action! I am in Washington, DC studying at American University.
What do you hope to gain from this experience?
As a photographer who pitches reviews and photo coverage to artists, Iā€™ve always been curious to see all the work that goes into music publicity from the other side. I hope to have a better understanding of the music industry as a whole, but definitely dive deep into publicity!
What is the best concert youā€™ve been to?
I saw Khruangbin on a solo trip to Berlin this spring, coolest experience ever. I got in line early enough to be in the front row and make friends with other Khruangbin fans in a new country with the zero German I can speak. Laura Leezy is a queen, seeing and hearing her live was a dream!
What else do you love besides music?
I love photography, specifically concert photography. Photographing shows as press is how I got to know music publicity, itā€™s such a special way to see an artist! I also love coffee and my barista job at Philz, no matter how early the day starts itā€™s just the best. I care a lot about reproductive justice, health, and activism, now more than ever.
Whatā€™s your dream job?
In a fantasy world I would be a tour photographer, but I would also love to work at a venue (or a few) managing press and artist publicity for new shows every night. I have a special place in my heart for DC venues and really enjoy getting to discover new music live.

Girlie Intern!
Tumblr media
Hi! My name is Imogen (she, her, hers) and Iā€™m really thrilled to be interning for Girlie Action! Iā€™m from London and am currently a Sophomore at the Clive Davis Institute at NYU.
What do you hope to gain from this experience?
Iā€™m really excited to learn more about how music marketing works. Iā€™m interested in how to create artist campaigns. I also really want to learn more about digital marketing, and am generally really excited to cultivate relationships with various people in the music industry!
What is the best concert youā€™ve been to?
I saw Lorde preform at Radio City Music Hall as part of her Solar Power Tour in April and she was incredible! I loved the atmosphere she and her team created! The visuals were stunning and the crowd was electric- you could feel the positive energy radiating throughout the space. Everyone was up on their feet dancing and singing the lyrics back to her the entire show. It was really beautiful to see firsthand how much unity and solace music brought everyone in that room, especially when she played ā€œRibsā€, which was a crowd and personal favorite!
What else do you love besides music?
Outside of music I love to read and discover new bookstores. Some of my favorite books are The Other Americans by Laila Lalami, Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid, and Homefire Kamila Shamsie. I started playing the drums (I love Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters) and also mediating this past year as well, which has been really fun and fulfilling.
Whatā€™s your dream job?
I want to be a songwriter and also have my own artist career. Down the line, I would also love to have my own publishing company or record label that champions and supports female and female identifying artists, writers, and producers. I would also really love to become a certified mediation teacher and write a fiction novel at some point too!

Hi, My name is Shane Bagot (He/Him/His) and Iā€™m excited to start this internship at Girlie Action for the summer. I go to school at Union County College and will be majoring in Journalism.
What do you hope to gain from this experience?
Iā€™d like to be able to hone my writing skills as I feel they can be a lot better. I hope to get a better understanding of the industry and how it works. There's a lot that I'm still not sure of and feel as if this will be a great way of answering those questions. Additionally, I would like to get a better idea of what I exactly want to do in the music industry. There are a lot of different aspects here that I can explore for myself.Ā
What is the best concert youā€™ve been to?
The best concert Iā€™ve been to was a 2021 Black Midi show in New York. It was my first time seeing them or anyone of that type of music. It blew me away. The band came with an energy I haven't seen or experienced before. It just made it all the better that the crowd was able to match it perfectly. It felt like I was a part of something very special that only a few could truly understand.Ā
What else do you love besides music?
Outside of music, I'm really into TV/Movies, Basketball, Fashion, and art as a whole
Whatā€™s your dream job?
The simple answer is to work in the music industry in some way. Whether that's in writing or some form of PR. Bu more specifically, Iā€™d love to start my own music publication where it is just a celebration of music and all of the good it's done and can do. Building even more on that, using the publication to set up concerts and festivals to showcase all types of music and communities. Just really helping to bring all people together with the power of music.Ā

My name is Dannie (she, her, hers) and I am excited to be interning for Girlie Action.Ā
What do you hope to gain from this experience?
I hope to understand how musicians reach listeners, gain a following, and generally get their music out there. I am also interested in learning more about how to engage with an audience digitally, or via the Internet.Ā Ā
What is the best concert youā€™ve been to?
If I had to choose, I would probably say the congregation at St. Charlesā€™ Church in Harlem. My family used to go on holidays, and I remember churchgoers standing in the pews, clapping and dancing to the music of the choir. I remember thinking, ā€œIs this Heaven?ā€
I also love NPRā€™s Tiny Desk. Some of my favorite performances include Noname, Jhene Aiko, Aurora, and Mumu Fresh.
What else do you love besides music?
Besides music, I really care about the environment (Iā€™ve been vegan for about a year and a half), holistic health and wellness (I became a certified yoga instructor last summer in Costa Rica), and Disney movies (my favorite of which will always be Tangled and Rio).Ā
I also enjoy traveling, a good cup of tea, and playing chess. My username is danniecbell on chess.com, if anyone would like to play.Ā
Whatā€™s your dream job?
I definitely donā€™t have a singular dream job (there are so many worthy jobs out there!) but I know writing makes me happy, and I would like to continue to put my writing skills to good use, whether that includes writing music for other artists, myself, musicals, etc.Ā
What I care most about tends to come through as I write, so I hope to always be brave enough to use my voice for good and talk about the issues I care about.Ā
