Trapdoor Spider!

My Spidersona!!! I had so much fun designing them and I definitely need to make fanart of the existing characters cause all of their designs are so well made 😳😳

Backstory + Canon Event:

(CW body horror continue with caution 💝)

Before being bit, Pumpkin was a regular human with no presence of abnormal or spider anatomy. However, when hiking through a forest trail with their girlfriend, he placed his hand on a tree to rest when a genetically modified trapdoor spider jumped out of its hidden nest and bit their hand.

Due to the higher heart rate they had from exercising, the mutation quickly spread through their body and he began to transform minutes after being bit. Their entire body writhed in pain as he collapsed and mutated, his girlfriend rushed to them to help but ran away in horror as soon as a new pair of eyes emerged from his face. He laid there for hours screaming as new arms grew out of their torso, their fingers sharpening into claws, pedipalps bursting from their face. In his pain, they desperately tried to crawl in the direction his girlfriend had run in, but made little distance.

After the pain greatly subsided, his once soft hair had hardened into more of an exoskeleton texture, now he had six eyes instead of two, pedipalps emerging from their face, two pairs of arms and a spider's abdomen.

They stumbled to a nearby lake in desperate need of water and as they gazed into his reflection he screamed, unable to recognise himself. He stared at himself for what felt like hours, trying to understand why this had happened to them and not someone else or no one at all.

Pumpkin had to learn how to walk again, needing to adjust for their newly formed limbs.

As the sun began to set on their never ending day, Pumpkin managed to sneak their way back to their apartment, barely avoiding being seen by others. Even though they had desperately wished for her to be there, his girlfriend wasn't.

No longer being able to live a normal life, they decided to try to help others but from the shadows, having a new found interest in building traps (similar to Fred from Scooby-Doo) that he felt he had to indulge. He had shown his appearance in public before, but was believed to be a "satanic beast sent from the devil" so they sticked to staying out of public view and stuck a pentagram to their abdomen to humour those who feared him.

He never tried to seek out their girlfriend, being too ashamed of how he looks and too afraid that she would run away from them again, so instead, he watched her from a distance.
