Not shipping, no. That's not the word I'd use.

Remus has his suspicions about Lily's feelings, but day-to-day, he's not devoting a lot of his time to thinking about it. He doesn't mind being the person who James talks to about Lily. He knows James well enough to know that, despite his new resolution to talk about her less, sometimes he will need to talk about her, and he's happy to indulge/support him because he loves James very much. But beyond doing what James has already asked of him, he's not going to interfere.

As for Sirius, in an ideal world all of his mates would stay single and free to hang out with him at all times forever. Since that won't happen, he has begrudgingly made do, but no matter how much James loves Lily there's not a chance in hell that Sirius would have put a scrap of effort into getting along with her if she didn't amuse him and if he didn't like her himself. Which he genuinely, really does. He's going to have a whale of a time nicking her bath salts and body butter and scrutinising her wardrobe and nagging her to go to the farmers market with him when they're all living together.

If it WAS foreshadowing you'd be very unhappy with me because in that episode Niles' love for Daphne is still unreciprocated and several more seasons pass before they get together. So nope, it's just a cute parallel!

So I'm never in London unless I have to be (ironically I was there visiting my brother yesterday) and I'm not a frequenter of pubs, but I asked my friend who lives there and she's recommended The Southwark Tavern near Borough Market, John Snow in Broadwick Street and Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese in Fleet Street. She also said that you can find good places by just strolling along the Thames, especially when the weather is nice like it is right now!

Waaaaaaiiitttt I’ve just realized on my CYOA reread that chapter 33 is titled “eight days away from knowing” and then chapter 41 is when Lily finds out about James and skylar…diabolical of you tbh I love it

Oh! That was because I'm pretty sure that when I was close to posting that chapter I told Tumblr that Lily was eight days away from having some sort of revelation or realisaton. I THINK I did anyway, unless I had only planned to and forgot, but I know I got an anon asking if it was a reference to Bee so I must have done. So I just gave that chapter a title to match. I always wanted her to realise her feelings on February 28th!

Congrats on 50 chapters! I know it's been mentioned that Lily has been going back and rereading and rethinking all of the recent interactions she'd had with James prior to his thing with Skylar. Does she remember during their dinner telling James she still felt the hammer had been brought down on that part of her life and she was happy where she was at? I know you've said she's not doing well, and I'm just wondering if she's kicking herself for maybe indirectly giving him the impression she's not interested.

She's not kicking herself for that so much because at the time she felt that she was being truthful, largely because she hadn't examined nor wanted to examine the reason why she felt like he needed to know that she wasn't going to be dating anyone in the near future. She's most upset because still quite hung up on the Skylar of it all, and about everything James didn't say about Skylar on the phone, plus, she's feeling quite self-conscious and undesirable on top of that.

Also, she was only fully comprehending her feelings for him when they had an argument, so now that they're talking again she's also trying to figure out what that means and how she's supposed to act. Flirting doesn't feel fun and safe anymore, and James has clearly picked up on that very quickly, but he doesn't know why.

have you mentioned before around what chapter they’re getting together? Just thinking chaos/james birthday on the 27th then 10 chapters left to hit 80? I know you already said there’s a few chapters of them together and happy, does the chaos PROMPT James and Sirius to come home?

Chaos chapter is 68, but to be honest, there actually might not be 80 chapters. It was the vague number I'd estimated when I first started this fic but as it stands now there could be more than 80. Chaos chapter is not going to prompt Sirius and James to come home, no.

Thank you! I'm sure there must be a couple of inconsistencies that I haven't caught but I do comb the story for them quite often, especially if I'm coming back to writing it after a break. I really, really love this story and I find it such a genuine pleasure to write. Believe me, I am AS excited to get these two together as you guys are to see them together.

50 chapters, which have been so consistent in their quality, I hope you are really proud of yourself. Your writing has brought me so much joy to read. I've had to ban myself from checking on your tumblr all the time for updates because I am obsessed with this story.

I loved this last chapter so much, so many funny and lovely moments (so gratifying to see James's journey), but also sections where as a reader you could sense Lily's sadness seeping through. When she mentioned worrying about getting in the way of James bringing home a woman, I wanted to both give her a hug and to shout at James to immediately deny that he ever would (I know he's being super careful, but it's heartbreaking!). I also wondered whether Lily being the one to often end their conversations saying that she has to jump on a conference call is her just being very busy at work or is it also a way for her to be a bit more boundaried?

Poor Lily! She was on a "we're friends again!" high for about half of a Monday before she came straight back down again. She's definitely struggling. To his credit James did tell her that he'd ditch the imaginary woman he "brought home" to watch movies with her, but as far as Lily is concerned that's easier said than done, she's feeling very very insecure.
