the problem with reading and writing leading to a strong vocabulary is that you tend to know the vibe of words instead of their meanings.

if I used this word in a sentence, would it make sense? absolutely. if you asked me what it meant, could I tell you? absolutely not.

Look SO many things are better as an adult, but I do so very genuinely truly miss the childhood experience of going completely insane over something at the drop of a hat. As an adult you need the right cocktail of drugs weather humidity feng-shui and job prospects to feel like a piece of media can rip you into orbit. As a 14-year-old all it took was the worst Naruto reruns in the world playing at 10pm in your childhood basement. Unmatched experience. Irreplicable. Truly a once in a lifetime gift as an apology for the experience of being 14.

That post that's like "stop writing characters who talk like they're trying to get a good grade in therapy" really blew the door wide open for me about how common it's become for a character's emotional intelligence to not be taken into consideration when writing conflict. I remember the first time I went to therapy I had such a hard time even identifying what I was feeling, let alone had the language to explain it to someone else. Of course there are plenty of people who've never been to therapy a day in their life who are in tune to their emotions. But even they would have some trouble expressing themselves sometimes. You have to take into account there are plenty of people who are uncomfortable expressing themselves and people who think they're not allowed to feel certain ways. It also makes for more interesting conflict to have characters with different levels of understanding.

We’ll be looking into getting an apartment or possibly one of those rentable houses, and my wife (not fiancé anymore nyehehe) will be on my work insurance so we’ll be getting them fixed up medically 🎉 it took me like a year after getting insurance to get all my medical stuff figured out, so I expect this year is going to stay busy.

Adulting is hard -o- but hobbies, blorbos, and friends get ya through it. Sometimes I wish I could rest for months straight though….. my poor brain is always so exhausted these days
