I think what Saitama never realizes about himself is how he's able to touch the hearts of the people around him, how he unknowingly encourages them to change for the better. When he reaches out to someone, he does so as his genuine self, and they in turn see Saitama as he is--someone generous, compassionate, and kind. A humble hero, despite being so strong, and in the OPM world where the strong always strive to be on top, someone like Saitama is such a rare thing.

Fortunately, there wasn't much digestive fluid adhering to his body, so the burns weren't too bad but that must have hurt. Good on Bang for not dropping Genos.

as many issues I've had with this show over the seasons (many.) the romanticization at points was an intentional and necessary "evil".
my memory of season one is hazy, but from what i remember it displayed it perfectly. for beck he was a cute bookkeeper, this authentic guy who really loved literature and just wanted love in the middle of new york. and in some ways that's not a lie, which meant the viewer could get that image in our heads too, but we also knew how truly horrific and pathetic of a fucking guy he was. i mean, remember what happened during his first time with beck, LMAO?
hes a creep. his idea of love is fucked up. he's a killer. the show doesn't fail to remind us. but also, hes done good things, has some good opinions, is someone you could fall for if you didn't know the fucked up stuff. and that's all really the entire point as op said, none of it would really work otherwise. it's where a lot of the horror comes from.
i acknowledge the writers of “YOU” may have romanticised Joe here and there, I get that fully.
But the way some people are only NOW saying he’s unredeemable and evil is so funny. He has always been a murderer, a creep. He stalked people, he attacked people and left them for dead. Etc etc. It’s not the writers fault that you didn’t watch the show properly.
They didn’t ruin his character.

Supposedly genos is german according to murata so i wonder if they’ll cast a white guy to play genos
The only people that actually strike me as white in the entire manga are King, Sitch and McKoy.
Let's take King for example.
Angular jaw, strong cheekbones, high nosebridge, light eyecolor in deep set close together eyes, low and strong eyebrows and a high forehead. Even the big curls in his hair.
Here we have Paul Boche, a German model. Notice how similar their facial structure is?
My entire family, who's German, has all in all the same facial features.
Now let's look at Genos, both from the front and his side profile.
His jawline, while still angular, is not nearly as pronounced as Kings. His chin is much pointier. Look at his cheekbones. There and high, but nowhere near as prominent.
His eyes are narrow and rather far apart, upturned and slanted.
Notice how his nose is thin, straight and slightly upturned? It's small compared to Kings and Pauls, and in germanic regions a rather uncommon feature to have.
Many noses here, including my own, have a very high bridge, sometimes with a high bony bump.
I've drewn over it on this picture of Louis Hoffmann, who's German aswell, to highlight it.
Genos nose is nowhere close to that shape.
Still, I could see him as being mixed, but with a lot more influence of his ethnically Asian parent.
To come to a conclusion - and my own personal opinion - no, I personally don't see him as ethnically German. There hasn't been any - to my knowledge - hints that he is culturally German in any way, but hey, anything is possible.
I'd prefer it by a long shot if they cast him with an Asian actor.
