Josie wasn’t far from the grill, it didn’t take her long to get there and find an empty table. She ordered two waters and waited for Landon.

“it’s the only magic you need, josie.” elena said, smiling at her niece and it grew in size then at her comment. “it’s what i’ve wanted since damon and i got married.”

Josie returned the smile. Elena had helped her more than she knew these past few months. “I’m happy for you and I’m glad I’ve been around to see you go through this. It’s an exciting time.”

“Hey.” Josie offered a smile. “Things have been getting better. I think I’m finally starting to feel like myself again.”

“Pure magic is all I’ve got right now, so I’ll take it.” Josie smiled at Elena. “You’re glowing you know.”

as per typical mystic falls fashion, with the snow falling and causing a predicted snow day the town square was covered in people. shopping, children playing and their families with them. elena smiled as she handed money to the cart owner and finally had her hot chocolate fix, one of her favorite things of the winter months. the brunette moved aside and immediately began sipping on the lidded cup. one hand slide down and cup her massively grown belly, soaking in the moment but she couldn’t help but wish her own parents were there to share in it with her. only when she heard a voice did the youngest petrova doppelganger look up and she smiled. “something so magical about the snow, right?” and not in the actual magic, the purely normal kind of magic.

Something compelled Ellie to go into the woods. No, not a vampiric compulsion, but a magical one. She was supposed to be there in the woods. The trees her calling to her. With each step forward that strong sense overwhelmed her more and more and then came flashes before her eyes. Visions, memory, call it what you would, but she had seen it before. In her dreams maybe?… Or perhaps it was something else. Not only that, but she had been in this particular spot in the woods before as well. But when? It wasn’t often that she ventured this far out alone. Except for… Then, it all came rushing back like a flood. A flood that was ready to over take her and leave her drowning in its depths. She remembered it all. The pain, the fear, the heartbrokenness that it was one of her closest friends who had done this. She had her speculations over how she had met her demise but this hadn’t crossed her mind. It was never this. Josie, however dark she may have been at the time, had killed her. 

Whipping her head around, her eyes met the tree as it burst into flames. Through the blaze she laid eyes on her friend, her killer. “It was you.” She said, her eyes wide with horror and tears. “All this time, it was you.” 

Josie felt like she couldn’t breath. The hot tears flowing freely down her cheeks. Her eyes met Ellie’s for a moment before she looked at the burning tree. She was too ashamed to face the other girl. “I... I didn’t know. I...” no explanation would be good enough. Josie had known about killing Alyssa. She had known about the merge with Lizzie and she was just trying to overcome those. This new information hit her hard. What else had she done? She finally wiped away a tear and glanced at Ellie. “I am so sorry.”

She sighed, sitting down on the ground and taking the younger girl’s hands. “I know what it is like to do awful things with dark magic running through your veins. But that isn’t who you really are, Josie. You are not the worst things you have ever done.”

Josie shook her head. “You don’t understand. I did more than I though I had. I...” Josie took a deep breath. “I killed Ellie.”

Bonnie felt the magic in the air, the sense of a spell going on. Needless to say, she wanted to be sure that any magic going on at this thing wasn’t going to hurt anyone. She followed her senses further into the woods, but didn’t need to look very hard once she saw the tree on fire. She raced closer, muttering a spell to calm the flames and stop the burning before bending down over Josie. “What happened?” she asked, pushing the girl’s hair out of her face. “Josie, are you okay?”

Josie shook her head, focusing on her breathing to calm the rage inside her. “I remember now... I remember what I did... the dark magic.”
