incoherent stream of consciousness sadposting sorry 😔

i've realized i don't have anyone to share excitement about things with anymore

and it's not that there's a lack of people who might want to be excited about things with me, but that i just don't know how to do it anymore without somebody dragging it out of me and even then i downplay it. and nobody really drags things out of me anymore, most likely because i don't act like i want it, and i've convinced myself that the people i used to be able to be excited with were only tolerating it at best and and i was overbearing and that i'd drive them away if i kept up with it

but i think i'm just driving people away by being a shell of who i used to be

and on top of that it's like, if i can't tell people what i like and what i'm happy about they can't use it to hurt me. they can't build up resentment that i'm talking about something too much and then lash out at me for being annoying and ruin that thing for me. and i don't think anybody in my life would actually do that, but it's happened enough times

i don't know how to fix this. i'm trying but it feels so vulnerable and i don't want to burden anybody by telling them how hard it is. i can post about it for the world to see sure, but telling somebody directly? i'm too afraid

#this started because i want a 3d printer and am overwhelmed trying to research and thought talking about it with someone might be useful #but got hives at the thought of bringing it up more than one time with any given person #and then started crying #gay piracy

a post-doc was doing a guest seminar at my institute and at the beginning of his presentation he was explaining why he chose birds for his evolutionary analysis - so he said "well first of all, because birds are the best and most interesting animals and it's fun to study them" and a few professors in the room gave him a very serious nod

found a bug on my insurance site that wouldn't let me send a message

couldn't find ANYWHERE to report an issue with the site itself

eventually messed around in the css and found the problem

sent a message saying "hey there's a bug, can you let IT know"

got a call from somebody who VERY MUCH wasn't IT

after ten minutes i finally got her to understand i was reporting a tech issue but she didn't get what the problem was since i had been able to send a message in the end

had to explain that i'd only sent it by changing a line of code without making her think i was hacking into the website

#i am NOT an expert programmer lmao i was just curious if i could fix it on my end because i've been trying to learn a bit lately #and it turned out to be an easy fix because something was hidden that shouldn't have been #gay piracy

I started using Head and Shoulders ten years ago for itchy scalp and dandruff, and then for ten years I have not had itchy scalp and dandruff, so I thought "why do I still buy shampoo to combat itchy scalp and dandruff when I do not have itchy scalp and dandruff," so I stopped buying the shampoo for itchy scalp and dandruff and can you guess I have now?
