if anyone knew how to shake her resolve , it was clay. he had always found ways into her heart , no matter how dark things got. he was the one she had stood by , steadfast & loyal for so many years. now , standing opposite him , things are different , but she can't help but yearn for that old familiar comfort. but she's reminded of what he did , how he burned it all down. ❝ all that shit , everything that happened , i stood by you. i was a good old lady. but you threw it away. ❞ gemma vowed that she wouldn't let him in again , wouldn't let him manipulate her heart again. but then he shows up like this , a ghost of himself. she scoffs , turning her back on him with a flip of her hair so that she can hide the way her expression falters. he still loved her , and if she was a different person , maybe that would mean they could have it all again. ❝ ― yeah , well you can take that love and shove it up your ass for all i care. ❞

Clay's eyebrows furrow at the response, not that he should expect anything less. He'd chewed up and spit out his fair share of second and third chances and, as a last-ditch effort, he found himself in what was once their bedroom. "Not looking for sympathy, Gem," he responds in a low tone as she steps forward, not cowering from him. Not that he'd expect that out of her anyway. "The shit I did. The pain I caused you. It's unforgivable, I know that." he pauses a beat, eyes conveying regret. "I'm half-dead for Christ's sake," again, he pauses as he takes in a breath for emphasis, an oxygen tank on his hip, "just know that the love I had for you... still got... it was real."

she shakes her head , dismissing him , but anger boils fast under the surface. their arguments are hotter these days , burning up all in it's wake. ❝ so you want my sympathy now ? well, I got nothing left , I'm all out. ❞ she throws her hands up in the air , but her eyes never leave him , watching her husband's every move. they've been through so much shit together , she couldn't see them every parting ways , but that didn't mean they didn't have tough moments. most of them , like this one , were confined to their shared home , away from watchful eyes. but every so often they burned in public , showing the darkness that lived in the teller-morrow house. she steps closer , unafraid of his size. ❝ ― I'm sick of your schemes , and you're such a disease...
