What is the Garza Family Network?
What is the Garza Family Network?
Tumblr media
I’m sitting in my chair trying to think of how to properly explain exactly what the Garza Family Network is. My dogs are barking, and whining, because I refuse to give them their 15th treat of the day. The neighbors are outside going about their business, I can hear kids chattering, other dogs besides mine barking, cars coming and going, door slamming, airplanes flying overhead. The loudest noise is me typing on my nerdy mechanical keyboard. It’s a cherry max key board and is intentionally designed to be “extra click”. I can’t really tell you why an “extra clicky” keyboard is the thing to have, but I sure enjoy it.
I think all of that rambling is the key to explaining what the Garza Family Network is. I had the idea back in 2013. My self and so many people I have met over the years always have good ideas they want to get off of the ground. I have had my share of good ones. But it was really hard to find a good website provider. Like everyone else I went with the easiest and most cost effective course of action at the time. Which was to sign up with a big company promising a great website for pennies. I should have learned my lesson by now. I mean I remember 11 year old “Mr John P. Garza” signed up for the BMG music club. All I had to do was put some stamps on a paper and send in my $20 allowance and boom a month later I got a crate of CD’s to listen to. How could this be any different sign up put my debit card info in and boom for $1 a month I’m the proud new owner of a website where I could post all of my good ideas.
What a lot of these sites don’t tell is that they are nothing more than the BMG music model rebuilt to 2000’s standards and offering a different product. In one sentence. Most of the time they are selling you promotional items to get you in the door. The big buzzwords these days are Search Engine Optimized SEO. What these companies will not tell you is that there is no secret formula to get search ranking. Big data actually spends a lot of time and money researching specifically on how to fight back against SEO. They use tactics like hiding data in code not readable by humans into tricking the search algorithm into thinking the site is legit, when really it is just a bunch of bullshit. I have had many customers come to me and the first thing they ask is what are the hidden fees, whats the catch, and do I get to get my data back at the end.
I grew up in a small town north east of Lincoln Ne. My childhood was exclusively in a town of 1200 people. When I was a teenager I moved up in the world to a town of 300 people. In small towns everyone knows who you are. They know what you have done, and probably what you are going to do. You don’t get very far on bullshit. In fact they will spot your bullshit the moment you walk within sight of them. Don’t believe me? Walk into a small town bar in a fancy suit talking about how your a big shot social media poster, and time how long it takes for someone to kick you square in the dick. That is the direction I’m trying to take with GFN. No bullshit, no fancy advertising. In fact I’m not going to bullshit you I don’t even really like the name the Garza Family Network, but that is all I could come up with, and the lawyer money is already spent so here we are.
If you don’t like the name why did you keep it? What led me to the name Garza Family Network was brainstorming my personal core values. I am an Air Force Veteran. All branches of military have their different codes of honor and values, but they are basically the same. Be Honest all the time, Give 100% all the time, and when you do something do it for a purpose. I chose Garza Family because that is my name, and I want my clients to feel like they know me. I keep my circles pretty small and when you are in the circle it means you are a trusted person. Hence the slogan “Chances are you know us.” Keeping with the theme, no I’m not bullshiting anyone and trying to convey that if you join GFN you are family. Hell no most likely I don’t even know you that well. The family part comes in because a small business gets successful for several reasons, but most important is trust. If you are a small business owner you know all to well how god damn hard it is to build clients. It ALWAYS starts with trust. If you screw someone over or treat them poorly you will not be in small business for very long. That is the idea behind “Network” in Garza Family Network. I want to build a network of small businesses that know each other personally and can vouch for one another. Having a group of people you know you can rely on and trust, is a hell of a lot like a family.
I don’t think we need big things like corporate sponsorship with deep pockets, to build trust. I don’t think we need fancy gimmicks, and punch lines. I don’t think we need to atomically analyze social trends, and data mine buying habits. Don’t get me wrong all of those things work very well, there is a reason data is a billion dollar industry. But I’m not trying to be a billion dollar industry. I’m just trying to build a network of honest people who want to build their dreams. At the end of the day the country is littered with professional marketers, and data analyzers, and creative think tanks. At some point someone has to do the hard work. There has to be a market for just everyday people willing to get shit done. I was even thinking about setting the company up as you could only be a member if someone vouched for you. But honestly I’ll take anyone’s money at least once.
this is total BS. Not only are they not working directly with Google, they can’t guarantee anything. They don’t know any more about how Google’s search algorithm works than anybody else and no, they do not have any influence over which businesses Google displays. They are using scare tactics and preying upon the small business owner’s ignorance to sell ineffective and overpriced services.

I can read and write code. I can set up network infrastructure. I can build a web server. I can build you a website, and a social media presence, and I can get you on google. Not one time in all of my education for learning how to do these things did I once believe I’m some sort of genius that deserves to make $75 an hour for doing this. That’s now how we do things in the Midwest. We take care of each other. Nothing and I mean nothing pisses me off quicker than when I have a customer come to me and tell me their story of how some shitty SEO company thought they deserved over $300 a month for doing all of the things I listed. It’s basic math. In what world is the point of capitalism to literally choke your own clients to death. That is 100% price gouging, and not in the spirit of free trade capitalism. You should get what your worth, and you should be paid for your labor. But I am just to damn Midwestern to believe anyone is so damn special they deserve to be paid outrageous amounts of money to the point they and their children never have to work again. Further I don’t believe anyone is that damn special with regards to information technology. All of this cool technology we use everyday has been around since WWII it just took some time to realize the ideas. Very little if any technology we use today is revolutionary. The super geniuses, the tin foil hat wearing super nerds, yeah they don’t build websites at SEO companies, these companies are ripping people off. I’ll even go as far as to say some of these companies aren’t even higher educated, everyone can code a website after 10 minutes on YouTube.
So that is the idea behind Garza Family Network. Just a network of good honest people who are trying to get shit done.

Testing 1.2.3.
Tumblr media
This is a test post.
This is not a new idea by any means, only new to me. One of my clients recently asked me if I could come up with a one stop solution to social media posting. The idea is to make only one post and have it propagate to all of the social media sites. It’s just a simple wordpress plugin. I did not create this plugin or anything, but it’s just one more tool in the GFN tool box.

There are only 2 genders
Please people thee are only two genders…. I can’t believe that Tumblr is allowed to exist and make up all these ridiculous identities and not have all its users in mental health facilities.

The internet isn’t gone because I haz snowball.
Ajit Pai’s claim of “supporters of net neutrality provisions that were repealed Thursday have been proven wrong, as internet users wake up still able to send emails and use Twitter after the regulations were struck down.” Is the same shit logic as Jim Inhofe’s claim that global warming isnt real because I haz snowball.
