//I'm so sorry to do this but I have to go on hiatus again - My husband was taken into hospital last week and we got news yesterday that wasn't all too positive so I just don't have the mental capacity to be here. I'm going to keep the queue running so that replies go out but I won't be here. I may have limited activity here on other blogs but for the most part I'll be wholly offline. "Good luck uninviting me, I'll gatecrash."
Hand reaches to curve behind her ear, tucking hair back as he grins over at her. "That sounds good to me." He nods, taking one last bite of cake before pushing his plate away again. "Right. That's the cake ticked off. What else do we have to do?"
"Apologies." He adjusts his position slightly, trying to appear more uppity. "Darling, love of my life, I implore you to pick a flipping flavour." He gives a playful waggle of his eyebrows.
As she checks her phone he spears another piece of cake on his fork, more playing with it rather than tasting it. "I liked the vodka-soaked strawberries. And I liked that chocolate raspberry one." He looks to her again. "Okay, yeah I wanted to do this but in my defence I thought the only cake options were shit - Sorry, stuff - Like vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. I didn't realise it'd be all fancy." Lips twitch upwards. "I think we should just buy a load of those Colin the Caterpillar cakes and make a little train of them around the reception."

Sebastian's honestly a little taken aback by her answer. So much so that it takes him a moment to process what he's feeling. "Y'know -" He starts packing away the cleaning supplies, his mood soured. "I can handle the rest of the world assuming I'm a shitty person but coming from my supposed fiancee? That fucking stings. After everything, Cecelia -" He can't look at her but there's a strain of emotion in his voice that's giving it away. "I mean, fuck me, I thought I was doing quite well but apparently I'm just behaving myself until a Russian seductress comes along? What's the point in getting married then if you've just assumed that I'm going to fuck you over? I am a lot of shitty things but disloyal is not one of them and you don't get to write my future for me just because you've had men be cunts to you before." His jaw sets, clenched. "People have always made assumptions and had incorrect opinions about me and I thought you were different. I thought you knew me but clearly you fucking don't if you've just been sat here counting down the days until I shag someone else." His whole life has consisted of people telling him that he's a bad person who makes bad decisions. Sure, he's not the best. He's had to be like that in order to survive. But when it comes to the people he loves, he's always tried to give the vulnerable, real version of himself. "Why are you marrying me?"
"We'll never know Moran, we'll never know."
Here it comes, the lean. She moves to the desk, hands moving over the various cleaning tools and leans into him. "No, uh--" she prods at her own feelings. "I don't worry about it. I don't think-- Sebastian Moran is going to cheat on Cecelia Holmes. I think husbands cheat on their wives. I think you have a job that is going to lead you into temptation more often than working in a bank would. I think commitment is still new to you." She doesn't look at him, and she doesn't sound sad exactly, more resigned to it. "I think that one day, when we have fallen into a routine, you're going to be in a hotel room with some trained Russian seductress and instead of saying sorry babe, I'm married, you'll think... fuck, one time won't hurt. You're good at secrets."
But, you know, she doesn't worry about it.

Victor's touch serves as a relaxant, causing Sebastian's shoulder to lose their tension. His gaze turns worrying rather than frustrated, eyes searching the features of the man he's come to love.
"I know you don't care but I do. I don't want you to get hurt. You're too important to me. I don't want to be the reason you end up dead." Nightmares of Victor lying glassy-eyed and bleeding have started to edge into his sleep. He woken in a cold sweat more times than he'd like to admit. However, he also doesn't want to break things off. It's at the point where he's annoying himself with his own indecision. Instead of saying anything his arms wrap around Victor's waist, pulling him in close to his chest and resting his chin on his shoulder. "Will you carry a gun? Or at least let me give you one of the lads for security."
❝—Well, this is a good start as any, I suppose.❞ A silent scoff slips past his lips; though he would not deny the coarseness in Sebastian's nature, he has time and again proven himself more than capable of displaying tenderer emotions, and presently, Victor hopes to appeal to this most familiar part of him.
His touch finds the curve of Sebastian's cheek as his doting gaze bores into his. ❝—To tell you the truth, I've never cared about getting hurt. Nor do I want to make you choose between me and your life; I only want to be a part of it. If you cannot allow that, then what more is there to say?❞
