Weeks 2 & 3 - Training continues! (New gear tested)
Weeks 2 & 3 – Training continues! (New gear tested)
What am I thinking? Half marathon or marathon? What am I capable of? Why am I even trying this? Have a lost my mind? Well…maybe! Week 2 & 3 are complete and the dreaded Saturday 7 mile run went better than expected. I managed to continue with 4-5 days of Burn Bootcamp Five Forks and have been doing my weekday runs right after camp in my neighborhood. However, for Saturdays, I decided to drive…

Week 1 - What am I thinking?
Week 1 – What am I thinking?
What am I thinking? Half marathon or marathon? What am I capable of? Why am I even trying this? Have a lost my mind? Well…maybe! I just completed Week 1 of a 16 week marathon training. To be perfectly honestly with you all, I have never ran more than 8.5 miles in my life. NEVER! I have been so inspired by some friends at Burn Boot Camp Five Forks that I decided to give it a go. There is a race…

After the Hurt - Take Responsibility for Healing Yourself
After the Hurt – Take Responsibility for Healing Yourself
On a recent rainy day, I found the perfect little place with the best pour over coffee to sit and let the words flow. My goodness it feels good to write again. Work has consumed me for so many months, that I have not had the extra time.  As you all know, I tend to write about my incredibly ridiculous thoughts and ramblings of the mind. Sometimes, I write after deep conversations with family and…

Easy Like a Sunday Morning: (Series 13) Music and Memories / Mazzy Star
Easy Like a Sunday Morning: (Series 13) Music and Memories / Mazzy Star
It’s been awhile and it feels good to have some time to write again. So here I am, on a quiet Sunday morning, with my black coffee, my dog, and a little music. Ah…Yes…MUSIC, the reason I am writing this Sunday morning (again).
Three people in my life sent me music comments or links this week. Three! One referencing our friendship and time in college, one remembering a time many moons ago of time…

After a commitment yesterday morning, I was determined to spend the rest of the day taking it easy.
I went downtown with a tribe member to simply enjoy the open air Saturday Morning Market. There was a suggestion to bring running clothes, hit the trails, and so on. I shot that down quickly! I suggested we simply take the day to enjoy our little downtown, eat on the market street, enjoy the coffee shops, and local businesses. We had no other place to be. No timeline.
It was beautiful day.
I didn’t take any pics of brunch, but we ate  shrimp and grits and an amazing crepe on a bench outside. Thanks Soby’s New South Cuisine for my favorite Saturday morning market food stand! You never disappoint. We had a smoothie at one of my local favorites, Southern Pressed Juicery. If you are local. check them them out. It is one of my favorite places downtown. The ingredients are so fresh and refreshing. We walked around and checked out some local businesses, before taking the time to have some coffee and tea at Methodical Coffee. This place makes me happy. The baristas here take the time to make a perfect cup of coffee. For a coffee lover like me, this is pure heaven. A fresh pour over coffee? Yes, please! Here, we took the time to just sit, drink, and enjoy a nice conversation. Methodical pics below.

At the end of the day, my tribe member admitted that it felt really good to be able to enjoy our day, our time together, and our beautiful town.
When you spend your weekdays juggling life with a full time job, being a parent, and going from commitment to commitment, sometimes you simply need a day to just take it easy. Life can be overwhelming. Things are getting more and more fast paced and we focus so much on trying to keep up with the world and we don’t take the time to enjoy where we are.  That old cliche saying, take the time and smell the roses.
Thank you Greenville, SC for the “roses.”
Today’s music is compliments of Jack Johnson.

The Dark Cloud and the Rising Sun
The Dark Cloud and the Rising Sun
I have written and tried to publish this on several occassions. There were times I wrote out of anger. There were times I wrote due to the pain I experienced. But every time, I walked away from writing. Each time, hoping to find the joy I once had in blogging. Not out of anger, pain, or revenge. But out of love and healing.
And there it was. Hovering over me like a dark cloud.
Sometimes, people…

Easy Like a Sunday Morning: (Series 12) Can it be easy on a flu day?
Easy Like a Sunday Morning: (Series 12) Can it be easy on a flu day?
My sweet #LittleLove has the flu. Yup, for the second year in a row, she has been hit with this nasty, unwelcome virus. I spent another morning checking temperatures, giving medicines, and disinfecting light switches, door knobs, the couch, her pencils, rulers…if I think she touched it, I tried to disinfect it! This mommy has never had the flu, and I am praying to GOD that this is not the year!

Late post, written on the morning of 01/06/2019
Hello everyone!
I have been a bit behind with my blog. The holidays were incredibly busy with family and friends, which was fantastic! My #LittleLove was on holiday break from school and my Christmas surprise gift for her took me some time to complete. I spent the first week of the new year taking care of our sick pup, #LittleCharles, but happy to say that he appears to be back to his old self again. Thank goodness, he gave us a huge scare!
I came downstairs this morning before everyone else to have some coffee and quiet time. We had a late night with our neighborhood family and I could probably use the sleep, but as you all know, I am one of those people who craves my early morning coffee and alone time.
This morning, I am a remembering a conversation last night where a few of my favorite friends said “2019 is the year I do this…and this…and this…” I LOVED all of their comments and goals. I stood back and took it all in. I loved how everyone was encouraging as we talked through it all with humor, laughter, and genuine care for each other. But this morning, I realized I didn’t mention a goal. In fact, I did not set any new ones this year to date.
In January 2018, I wrote a blog called the A Reason? A Season? A LifeTime? I can recall my state of mind at that time. There were some changes in my life and a three minute phone call that would change the course of my year. There was sadness, relief, a sense of excitement of the unknown, but most importantly, a sense of peace that would set the tone for the year.
I am incredibly blessed as 2018 turned out to be an excellent year!
I welcomed wonderful new people into my life. Thank you for loving and supporting me!
I traveled to Rome with my #LittleLove where we had the most amazing experience with my #LittleLove. The food, the sights, and some extremely humbling religious experiences were incredible. It was a trip of a lifetime!
I explored Nashville, had some fun Atlanta trips, hiked mountain trails, and enjoyed another fun week with my family in Florida.
I completed another Spartan race with good friends. AROOOO!
Work was super busy and I am so blessed to be able to have a flexible job where I can provide for my little family and also be available for my #LittleLove’s events.
I am raising the most amazing beautiful and well- mannered girl.
We started the holidays by hosting our 7th Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Party. It was so much fun again!
I rang in the New Year with some of my closest friends and my #LittleLove.
All of these were amazing, but my favorite part of 2018, of course in addition to Rome, was spending quality time with my friends and family. I do wish I lived closer to all of them because I miss them like crazy.
Two fun girls at our 7th Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Party.
All of these were amazing, but my favorite part of 2018, of course in addition to Rome, was spending quality time with my friends and family. I do wish I lived closer to all of them, because I miss them like crazy.
So when thinking of 2019, my goals are to continue on my current path. I want to continue to travel and enjoy life with the most amazing family and friends. I am one LUCKY woman to have them all in my life!
I am taking an excerpt from my 2017 and 2018 posts and updating it a bit.
Another Spartan race in the books! AROOO!
Don’t  wait for it. Go out & make a CHANGE. Continue to SMILE more. Be EXCITED about life. Do NEW things. Throw away what you’ve been cluttering. Unfollow negative people on social media. Surround yourself with POSITIVE poeple. Enjoy time with FRIENDS. Be FIERCE. Keep HONEST. Stay LOYAL. TRAVEL whenever possible. Stay HUMBLE. PRAY more. Don’t gossip. Never stop LEARNING. Show more GRATITUDE. Do things that CHALLENGE you. Be BRAVE.
Below are some pics from our 2018 Italy trip where we took tours of the Vatican and The Colliseum. We climbed to the top of St. Peter’s Basilica. We sat in the Sistene Chapel. We explored ancient ruins, traveled to San Giovanni, visted many beautiful cathedrals, including St. Ignatius. We sat in the Pantheon, people watched at the Spanish Steps, and ate gelato at the Trevi Fountain. It was a trip of a lifetime!

“There she goes There she goes again Racing through’ my brain And I just can’t contain This feelin’ that remains”
It has been a busy few weeks. Thanksgiving with friends and family, our Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Party, sports commitments, getting ready for Christmas… you know the drill.

Easy Like a Sunday Morning: (Series 11) Begin Each Day with a Grateful Heart
Easy Like a Sunday Morning: (Series 11) Begin Each Day with a Grateful Heart
It’s been awhile since I have posted one of these.
It’s another rainy morning. I came down to be greeted by  handsome hungry pup. After making a pot of coffee, I  turned on all of the Christmas lights and sat here in silence and to enjoy the smell of our beautiful tree.
Yesterday was not a typical day. I slept in, while it was much needed, it put me in a position to have to rush out the door,…

These two silly gals are kind of my everything!
Short and sweet…
TRUE friends make us happy. They allow us to be silly, they laugh with us, cry with us on bad days, and stand by us on the truly tough days. They accept us despite the faults we possess. They are invaluable.
I have been so incredibly lucky. I have managed to maintain most of my intimate friendships for over 20 years. And to top it off, I added on a few more good ones!
My fabulous SC gal pals.
As the saying goes, tomorrow is never promised. So love and take care of the people who are in your life. We are so often caught up in our own destination, that we forget to appreciate the journey, especially with the beautiful souls in our lives. If you are one of those people that does not appreciate your good friendships, just remember, life is short and can change in an instant. Always let them know how much you appreciate them.
Outside of my family, these are some of my all time, absolute life favs! We have shared so much over the years. Some secrets and conversations will be carried to our graves 🙂
I LOVE YOU!

Emotional support
They believe in us when we don’t
They are personal advisers
They make us laugh
Provide new perspectives
They tell us the truth
They let us reveal our true selves
They accept our faults
We face issues together

About that dishwasher...
About that dishwasher…
The dishwasher and the misadventures of Anna…
There I was, 2: 00 am and most likely another hour to go. I was exhausted and felt like I was having an emotional breakdown. Perhaps I was. I was tired from a long day of work, mommy duties, and around midnight, my dishwasher decided to start leaking all over the kitchen hardwood floors. I know…dishwasher…third world problems, right? As a kid, a…

Focus on the silver lining.
Focus on the silver lining.
Cool weather, oh how I have missed you!
Sleeping with my upstairs windows open is one of my favorite things ever. This morning,  I was able to enjoy a quiet morning and afternoon on my little patio enjoying my coffee, my dog #LittleCharles, and listening to some of my favorite tunes. I hope the days and weeks ahead continue to be nice like this.
Today, I am reflecting on that old quote again…

Chris Cornell - Music Fuels My Soul (Song and Video Series #15)
Chris Cornell – Music Fuels My Soul (Song and Video Series #15)
I have truly missed writing for my blog. To all of my friends & followers who reached out to me, I am hoping to be back on a regular schedule soon.
So that brings me to my first post in a while. Today has been a MUSIC kind of day. Tonight, my house is LOUD!  I have some much needed alone time. The music is blaring and I needed this man’s voice and lyrics so much today.
My heart has been full of…

The #AdventureGirls have been on the move again.  We recently spent another fabulous week in Florida. We like to call it our “annual pilgrimage” to visit my favorite friend in the world and to spend time with my amazing family. It was just what the doctor ordered (minus some work hours I had to put in – eeek). We had so much fun with our loved ones and hope this tradition continues for years to come. While at the airport on the way to Florida, my #LittleLove held my hand and said, “this is one of my absolute favorite family traditions – going to Florida year after year.” Well, me too my love!  Me too.
But as I got back and looked through some of the pics, I took the time to reflect on this beautiful 9 year old and our relationship. Her personality, her observations, her discussions with me, her openness, and our relationship… is changing.
She is more vocal about our future. She speaks her mind, and freely gives her opinions. My goodness, where did this come from! HA!
These last 3.5 years , we have learned so much about ourselves. We learned that we are truly strong ladies. We learned that life can be adventurous. We learned that we can rely on each other, talk to each other about everything, and even on our bad days, we can still sneak in each others bedroom to cuddle and barely say a word. Because sometimes, a hug and a smile fixes all the bad things about our days.
This year has been full of changes. As we welcome new friends and relationships into our lives, we talk about our future more. Would anyone put up with our dance parties at 6:00 am? Would others enjoy our non-stop love for music streaming throughout the house at all hours? Will they understand our passion for adventures around the world and embrace new experiences with us? Would they join us at bedtime as we read like we were performing on a Broadway play? Will they hold us and cry with us on sad days. Will they laugh with us on our good days? Will they understand that we are two girls with  many disagreements? Will they understand our sarcasm (like mother, like daughter)? Will they understand our strong-willed personalities? Will they understand that there are times we just need to lay on the couch for hours to snuggle? So as we discuss welcoming new people into our TRIBE, what we we do know is that we have so much LOVE to give…as long as they can love us for the crazy girls that we are. With all of our faults, with all of our shenanigans, with all of our disagreements, and with our fierce instinct to always protect one another.
Will they be up for the challenge?
Because what we did agree upon,  is that there some room in this love fest.
Disclosure: While many have tried to join, in the end, only the strong and those with an HONEST AND LOVING HEART will make it:).
