Winter in Russia
So let's talk about this really popular theme :D One of the most popular stereotypes! Russia = cold, snow and bears. Is it true? Let's see ;) Russia is a really big country. We have 11 time zones. 11, Carl! You can go to sleep in Moscow and wish a good day to your friend in Vladivostok :D Also we have climatic zones. Yes, not just one Arctic zone :D You could search in Wikipedia for "climate of Russia" and see Köppen climate classification map of Russia. So, we have really different climate zones from arctic to subtropical. Yes! Russia is not so cold as you think. Let's speak about Europe part of Russia this time. Moscow is pretty close to Europe. So we have all 4 seasons. I can't speak about other countries but here we have 3 months of winter (officially :D): December, January, February. But. Sometimes snow starts at October. And you can find snow till May. Sometimes in May you still could see some snow in shadow places. It really depends of...random? One year is not like the last one. This year winter was pretty cold. In January it was about -30C. Not so good :/ Some winters are warmer. About -20C is fine :D But I speak about Moscow and close regions. If you go north - it may be worse :D For example, this year. In this April we finally got rid of snow :D But in Saint-Petersburg is still snowy. So it's easy - the norther you go - more snow you could find. And now let's go south. We have seas and we even have seaside resorts. Most popular is Sochi and close regions. Sochi has more soft climate. Winter is not so cold and long. But in Moscow we have warm summer too. Sometimes it's hot. Some days are 30-40C and it's pretty hot :D Because of this we have a big forest fire problems sometimes... So yep, Russia is not just winter ;) Let's speak about other regions next time, I'll try to add some photos!

Welcome!
Well this is gonna be some kind of welcome post :) First of all - sorry for my English, I'm trying my best :D Ok. So. Everyone know what Media in every country is not the best way to get information. I mean, for every country any other country is worse in media. But we know every couple has good and bad sides. So I'll try to tell the world something about Russia - my country. Just to be clear - I'm not a patriot but also I'm not a hater of my country. I can see it's white and dark sides. And I want to show them to you! I'll try to be impartial and show you Russia from inside. You could call me Mike (Or Forest. Or Cactus :D) I'm a 21 y.o. student from Moscow and I'll try to tell you which stereotypes about Russia is true or not true ;) I'm gonna tell you about culture, people, nature and about everything else you'll be interested in! You could and should ask me questions about anything you would like to know and I'll try to answer! Even if I don't know about it - I'll find out it for you.
