CW: old tired takes about a 10 year old game
soooo we just got done playing Lisa the Joyful and I forgot how much I hated Buzzo’s little speech at the end, blaming Lisa for everything
Take all the swearing and the dick jokes and whatnot out of the equation and Painful is actually so competently and well written, ESPECIALLY considering the incredibly heavy themes it covers.
Joyful just.. ughh. Having the literal only two female characters both be victims of severe CA and CSA and then portray them as forces of evil while portraying the men around them as the real victims because witnessing their abuse made them sad or w/e
It almost makes painful seem worse by association too bc you start wondering if that game really was as self aware as you initially assumed

My persona is Fridka, this .. wolf creature thing that shows up from time to time
I have thought of making a santropia-sona (Santropia being the world my ocs live in), or do a variant of Fridka that fits into that setting 🤔

To elaborate a bit, Sapphire desperately wanted to see something good in her ashborn heritage - especially after learning the circumstances around her own birth, and the reasons for why her mother hates her. The shock of seeing Jasmine in such a sorry state was the last straw, and what caused her to eventually gravitate to the nihilism of the varpari and embrace her fate as a lantern in C’aara’s collection.
