“Ah, Yukio? Pleasure meeting you. Again thank you for the help. And who is to say you are not important? Each individual holds their own importance no matter how big or small.”

Once the handshake was over, Blanche made sure their hands were busy doing something else like fixing their own jacket, making sure their ponytail was still tight – The had to fidget a bit after that handshake. Always. Always fidget after handshake. Gotta fidget – No no calm the fidget down. Calm it down.

Now their arms crossed over their chest just so they could keep their hands still.

“Merely visiting for study. I tend to travel quite a bit – It is a challenge for me to stay in one place when there is so much to discover and so much to study.” And so much that they needed to find out and get credit for before the other selfish professors in their field of study…

Blanche’ll show them …

“I take you live here in Kanto?”

It doesn’t escape notice that remaining idle seems to sit ill at ease to them. It is well disguised at first, busying with small tasks that seem natural but when there is nothing else to do, it is an uneasy stillness again.

“I suppose that is fair. At the very least, it does give you a vaster area of knowledge than most...” He pauses, bringing a hand to his chin in thought. Movement is not a necessity for him as it seems to be for them, but idly he taps his finger.

“That I do, though I live much further south than here. Simply visiting a friend of mine.”

It is no job of his to cater to the comfort of others, but a nagging part of his mind reminds him that this did not begin until his attempted greeting. Despite good intentions, perhaps he had still done something wrong? It would only be natural to try and remedy it ( busy their hands? take their mind away from it? )

“What sort of things are you researching here? Surely all that paper is not solely for the Spearow nest?”

“Splendid.” With that, they are pleased. The map is given one more look over followed up by a nod of approval. The map was then rolled up and put away for the time being.

Oh – It is polite to shake hands, is it not?

Blanche paused for a moment before visibly drawing back just a bit. Why was any form of touch so… Strange to them? Especially from strangers? No matter how polite the gesture may be.

“ – Ahem. Pardon me-” The offered hand is soon taken after Blanche snaps out of it, giving a firm and polite shake. “I am one of three assistants and Team Leaders under the wing of Professor Willow. I am Blanche, Leader of Team Mystic. I am deeply immersed in the study of Pokemon evolution – why they evolve, how they evolve, Mega Evolutions… You name it. If it falls under the category of evolution, then it holds my interests. Their wisdom is immeasurably deep, you know.”

Ah. No time to nerd out.

“And who might you be? I must properly thank you for helping me out even if it was on such a small matter.”

Ah? Had he made a mistake somewhere? Was it not a customary way to introduce oneself? He had though, but hesitation, recoil seemed to tell him otherwise. Was he being offensive in some way? He thinks to move his hand back, but the thought comes too late,

( How fickle humans were. )

“Me? I am nobody important, ahaha. Certainly no specialist of study or anything of the sort, simply a trainer, so to speak. My name is Yukio, and it’s good to make your acquaintance, Blanche.”

Hand quickly returns to side, idle fingers tapping to the X-tranceiver upon his belt for emphasis in place of Pokeballs that are not there ( not something he believed in; no desire to contain those of his own kind. Hyoga is well-mannered remain without one anyway. )

“It was my pleasure to assist you. If it was able to help this ‘Team Mystic’ of yours, then I am all glad I could be of service. Are you based here in Kanto, or merely visiting for study?”

And they still felt as dumb as a rock as that small detail was pointed out. For one, why didn’t they think of that. And two, what else could they have gotten wrong? Not just on the map but overall, in general, different notes and the like and –

No no no. Okay, Blanche. This is no time to think about that wait till you’re back at your study table, yes?

Carefully, they went about to change that small detail.

“Thank you. But a small detail mess up, I see.” But still a failure on their behalf! A dumb, stupid, big – FAILURE!

“That is all I need to change, yes?”

Gaze turns inquisitive, and another brief once over given to the map in question. It certainly looks to be the case. No more special cases that last for a notable amount of time.

“Well, I’m not exactly a specialist in this region, but I don’t see anything else out of order.”

Kind smile is given in response, and a hand is offered forth in official greeting. “Are you a professor perhaps? You don’t often meet many people who have this much attention to detail on the habits of Pokemon outside that group.”

They seem innocent enough in their studies. Nothing worrisome on their actions, as far as he could tell. That was good. He may have allowed bias to dictate his initial view ( having a ‘Team’ so to speak, in this day and age, didn’t give off the best impression ).

“A map. Some notes.” ‘Some’. They said that as if there was just like, one or two things scribbled upon the map.

But no if you looked closer, there was many things scribbled here, scribbled there. Some words in English, some words in a different language. Their writing was in such neat cursive too, very pristine and as close to perfect as it could look.

Lets not forget that Vaporeon paw-print in that empty corner though!

“I am not quite sure if I’ve forgotten something, or mixed up some old notes with some new. That rarely happens, however, so I doubt that is the case you see. But it is still a probability. A low on, but…” Holds the map out to the other, finally.

Eyes are sharp now, discerning. Icy blue trails over the extended map, not wishing to yet take it from their hands. It can be read just fine from here, something attributed to the remarkable penmanship, neatly written that even though it is but scribbles on the page, it does not make the page as a whole cluttered.

The notes are accurate overall, some regarding the environment, types of Pokemon to be found... nests? Ah, that must be it.

“No no, not faulty notes. They’re quite accurate but here,” Gently a finger points out a particular line of writing, referencing an area not so far from their location.

“You have listed a nest of Spearow. It may just be coincidence since we’re near the area, but if you’re looking for them, they aren’t here. They migrate toward the south since this area is widely dominated by the Pidgey line in the coming of Spring. More opportunity for Bug-type Pokemon there.”

Surely staring at something for the better half of ten minutes warranted some sort of comment. That being said, he isn’t certain whatever it is they are working on could be solved by him ( they are the resident expert here, not him ).
