They already knew each other in 1945. How long before that did they know each other? It seems I've read that he watched Dean sing at The Riobamba Club in 1943. And according to what I've read, Dean was drafted into the U.S. Army sometime in 1944 for a little over a year.

I don't know why it was in a dumpster, maybe Chris will tell us when I read a little further. 1956 was not a good year for Dean and Jerry. Maybe Jerry tossed it, but it doesn't make sense because Jerry kept everything. Or his heart was just too broken to look at it.

I'm about halfway through Chris Lewis's book about his Dad Jerry and I'd like to say something. Jerry was one of the kindest, most generous, funniest, most charming, loving, unselfish, people who ever lived. He really loved his fellow man. He's more beautiful than ever before to me.

Dean still wore Jerry's ring and of course, the twin watch. These two, I swear.
ā(Jerry Lewis) Another one. He did the same thing with me. I donāt know what it is about me, but he also covered me in jewelry, like if you give jewelry, you will be loved. When I did The Young Lions with Dean Martin, I asked him, āWhere did you get that ring?ā āJerry.ā He wanted to give, give, maybe he wanted to be loved. But it was difficult to work with him, because heād be behind the camera making funny faces. He didnāt want to let go of this comic personality.ā
