Seeing a lot people upset about ACOR
So some people are getting pissed that Cassius, our paying client, is jealous of our relationship with Syphax. I’ve even seen people say “he doesn’t own me”. Uhh actually, while you’re with him, he DOES. He paid for our services.
The whole story behind ACOR is that we’re secretly trying to get revenge. We get points for using our wiles. The first lines are even “Smile, be charming, and never let them know you want them all dead.” I’m romancing Syphax but I’m telling Cassius that we’re just friends because I’m manipulating him to get revenge. That’s the point of the book.
I get that the thought of being owned or controlled is triggering to some people. But the book is called “A Courtesan of Rome”. What did you expect? We were warned at the start of the book!
“Slavery” “Mistreatment of women”. You were explicitly warned. It’s not PB’s fault.
