Almost certainly late to the party on this because I am a decrepit millennial but I've been seeing those TikToks with the "don't ask me how I did it, I just did it, it was hard" audio and I have a vision I cannot personally execute because I am not a video-making person, so I am throwing it out there to the universe.

First, someone asking Carlisle how he managed to overcome bloodlust and become a doctor, and the answer is of course "don't ask me how I did it, I just did it, it was hard."

Second, someone asks newborn!Bella how she is so amazing at being a vampire, and she answers, "don't ask me how I did it, I just did it" with the 'it was hard' part left off, because, well, *gestures at Breaking Dawn*

Am I alone in thinking the original reason Carlisle had a supply of blood in Breaking Dawn was in case Bella needed a transfusion? Bella and Renesmee do end up drinking it, but I don't think that was its original purpose.

The reason I think this is because Rosalie says specifically they have a bunch of "type O negative laid aside for Bella." Why would they need a specific type if it were for drinking? The only reason the type would matter is if it were intended for human Bella who might need it for medical reasons.

And later Seth comments that Carlisle's going to buy more blood because Bella's drinking all the O negative and Carlisle's worried about depleting the stockpile. Again, the specific type makes me think this is about a potential transfusion.

Also, in that weird "Blood Bank" deleted scene from Twilight, it's revealed Bella's blood type is O negative.

“Alice and I knocked over the hospital blood bank, ” he admitted, seeming embarrassed. “It was her fault-she refused to hunt coyotes or rattlesnakes.” I giggled, picturing her distaste. “I hoped you stayed away from the O-negative, ” I tried unsuccessfully to look severe. He glared, upset by my reference to those first anxious hours-of which I had no memory-when the hospital ran out of my blood type and had to have more rushed up by helicopter from Tucson. “We chose AB-positive, of course.” “Of course, ” I agreed. “Those lucky stiffs can use anybody’s blood.” He scowled at me. He considered it all part of my hazard-attracting nature-and therefore my fault-that I would have the most difficult blood to supply.

Blood transfusions were a big thing in Dracula so that could have been an interesting reference/throwback to granddaddy of vampire novels if SM were more vampire genre savvy.

Today I'm intrigued about what people thought happened to Rosalie and Carlisle.

Jasper was at war, Alice was in an asylum, Edward was in a hospital during a pandemic. Them never coming home wouldn't be that weird (and Alice's father and step-mother claimed she was dead anyway). Even Emmett had gone out into the woods, things happen. Fatal encounters with wildlife, getting lost, hunting accidents. Even Esme; alone in a new place, lost a baby, jumped off a cliff. Would anyone really notice her body was missing? Who was going to claim it?

But Rosalie and Carlisle are different. Rosalie was about to marry into a prominent family and then she disappears, and then the friends of her fiancé die (or disappear? Did Rosalie hide the bodies?) and then the fiancé himself is killed/disappears. She vanished one night walking home from a friend's house and no body was ever found. That's weird. Did people think she was the first victim of a serial killer? Did they think she was a witness or involved in some shady stuff that Royce and his friends did that came back to haunt them? Did anyone ever suspect that Royce and his friends were responsible for her disappearance or is she forever lumped in with them as victims of the Rochester Killer?

And with Carlisle, sure, dying on a vampire raid in the context of a time and place where vampire raids were a thing wouldn't be 'weird,' but his father purposefully burned the bodies of vampire victims. Carlisle's body was never found. Did Pastor Cullen try to cover that up? Burn some other body and claim it was Carlisle's? Bury an empty coffin in the churchyard so no one would have to live with the idea that his son stalked the night as a blood-sucking monster? Or did everyone know his body was never found and he was probably out there, transformed into one of the monsters he and his father had fought? Were his father and surviving friends spending terrified, sleepless nights worrying undead Carlisle would make an appearance?

I didn't include "because she's the main character" because I wanted an in-universe answer. If you think it's a combo of some of these, pick what you think the biggest factor was and then explain in reply/tags.

what she means: in the final installment of the twilight saga, the twilight saga: breaking dawn - part 2 (2012), how was alice cullen able to have a vision of renesmee cullen and jacob black in the future? ?? the entire conflict concerning bella, edward, and alice in the second half of the twilight saga: new moon (2009) was that alice saw bella jump off a cliff but didnt see jacob save her because he’s a werewolf, so edward assumed bella was dead. ??? ?and then in the twilight saga: breaking dawn - part 1 (2011) alice didnt see bellas future after bella got pregnant on her honeymoon because renesmee is a vampire-human hybrid. ?????? according to the logic in the book alice shouldnt be able to have visions of species other than vampire and human because shes only been a vampire and a human.? and then all of a sudden in the final chapter of the twilight saga alice can see jacob AND renesmee 10+ years into the future????????i havent slept since november 2012

i will never stop thinking about how if resume didn’t exist, then bella would have gone to college with edward, human.

and how she’d kind of start to love being human.

and she’d just grow and learn as humans do.

and since edward is unchangeable, that he’d be unchanging in his love for her. but then also because she is changing, he would be falling in love with her over and over again.

and thus in a way he is changing, because his love requires him to, because his lover is changing. just like we see in new moon and eclipse, edward was the vampire impossibly capable of change as a result of his unchanging love.

thus finding a loophole in the “stuck in my ways” limbo of vampirehood that he loathes so much.

and bella loves her life with edward so much, and feels so confident in edward’s love, she cares about age and becoming a vampire less and less.

and so they grow old together. and by the time bella is 90, edward is also emotionally 90, due to all the times he changed (read: matured) as a result of his love for her.

and when she dies, he is no longer a 17 year old “i die with you” dramatic. he’s a wizened but blissful 90 year old who is grateful for the love he experienced over the years.

and he maybe he runs bookshops and teaches english because that’s what bella loved, and he lives mostly in his memories but continues to blop happily along, content with the life he lived and the perfect memory of 70 golden years with his soulmate forever dancing along his eyelids. he doesn’t change anymore with her gone but it doesn’t leave an ache like it did in 2004. because he’s already completed by his lifetime of love.

i will never stop thinking about them and what they would have had.

Oh okay. Rosalie trying to convince Bella not to turn. Pinning her to the wall, gently, as gentle as she can manage.

Her lips are sealed closed, not taking a single breath, until her forehead is touching Bella's. She's so close that Bella can't see her, but she can see Bella. She opens her mouth and lets the stench of rot from within her escape, watching Bella's face go through several motions of revulsion. Feels Bella breathe it in through her nose, gag a little, try to breathe through her mouth, gag worse.

"We're dead, Bella. This isn't some magical adventure where you get to be strong and beautiful and live happily ever after. You feed the rot inside your belly, every time you hunt. The blood settles in you, gurlges, ferments. Animals try to flee from us because they think we're diseased."

"Please don't say that about Edward-"

"Edward's dead," she spits, every word clouding Bella with decay. "We all are, and he's no different. He died when Carlisle bit him, and he's suffered every moment since the venom reanimated his flu-ridden corpse."

"He's alive to me-"

"Live while you can, Bella. Live and age and die and let your body rot when you're done with it. Give it back to the ground. Don't waste it on this. Don't waste it on us. We find happiness where we can here, but,"

Rosalie takes a shaky breath in.

"I would give anything to go back and die how I was meant to. I would give anything for an informed choice over what Carlisle was bringing me into. You'll learn. Please don't learn it too late."

And then she was gone, too fast for Bella to even call out to her. Nothing but the smell of her dead breath remained
