so i heard you’ve got some new songs in the world? 👀👀👀👀 (<- spider eyes) what can you tell us about them?

First off, I just want to acknowledge the amendment to this ask saying they meant to say "in the works" instead of "in the world". It can't be easy to type with so many spider eyes (and limbs)! 🕷️

New songs currently in the works, in various states of completion, include:

A pop punk-inspired song about zombies and grief

A blues-y, jam-y werewolf song

A vampire rock opera

A retelling of Christina Rossetti's poem "Goblin Market"

Plus a few others that have already been fully written but just need time to get the whole band on board (like Domovoi), and some other little kernels of ideas that may or may not eventually turn into songs.

Happy Forgetmenauts Friday! We just put up a video to a full acoustic set we did at the Ivy Room in Albany, CA, back in February.

*FLASHING LIGHT WARNING: Because of the angle of the camera and the rotating stage lights, there are a couple of places in the video where the light accidentally produces an intermittent strobing effect. Sometimes as a spoonie life knocks you over with just a gentle breeze.... So it's been a while since I've made any silly projects for myself (which often makes me more depressed!! Yay!!). Tried sitting down last week and painting whatever doodle came to mind on a t shirt to get back into a small swing of things, and of course it was The Forgetmenauts again..... <3

"i took a zombie to prom and all i got was this lousy t-shirt" and some very simplistic forget-me-nots flowers on the shirt!!!! I did originally picture painting more (like aged tombstones and maybe mushrooms) but I think I like the simpler design atm.

(Just realized you can still see ugly yellow the chalk lines on the shirt in the pics lol)

hiiii just wanted to say that I continue to spread the FMNs agenda and 2 people went out of their way to tell me they loved Persephone when I played it on my radio hour today :)

Oh!! And it's a ways out but we'll also be playing at 924 Gilman in Berkeley on Friday, June 14.

It'll be a special show not only because of the all-ages historic punk venue, which we love, but also because we miiiight (no promises) be able to get the full line-up of both current and previous band members all playing together. (Our original bassist Emma will be opening with her solo project, Three Reefs Deep.)

hello!!! this may get a bit long so i’m very sorry about that, but are there planned to be any shows in the near(ish) future? and if there are, would they be local (sf/bay area area?) or would they be farther out? i was so happy finding out you guys are based in cali (i’m also in cali!! closer to the sacramento area but yk same thing) and i would love to come see some of your stuff live <3333 thank you all for writing these amazing songs and having such an amazing vibe, your band has truly made my life better. your music is so so so so comforting and makes me so happy. it’s always going to be good feelings thinking about the songs. thank you so much for doing what you do and i hope i have the opportunity to see you guys live at some point <3

Hi!! Sorry not sure when you asked but just seeing this now. Thank you so much for your kind words, and we would love to see you at a show sometime!

Most of the shows we play are in the immediate SF Bay Area. We could definitely be better about promoting our shows ahead of time, but in general our Instagram is where we tend to announce shows most consistently. We've actually got two coming up this weekend: Friday 3/29 at Baltic Kiss in Richmond, and Sunday 3/31 at Tamarack in Oakland.

We've played shows a little further afield before (Stockton, Reno, some private festivals in Northern California), and it's not beyond the realm of possibility that we'll play more in the future. (In an ideal world, we'd put together a little California tour at some point in the next year or so, but there are six of us and we all have day jobs, so scheduling something like that definitely involves some logistical complications!) That being said, if y'all know of any good small-to-medium sized venues near you that might be looking for bands to book, feel free to let us know. <3
