90′s Fall outfits we are So ready for!

If you live in SoCal, like we do, during fall, you dream of the days the weather will be just right, to pull out your sweaters, coats, and boots. The days when you can layer your cute summer dresses with cardigans and your jeans with an oversized blazer and of course all the different boot styles. These IT girls in the 90′s mastered the fall looks and will make you beg for colder days.

What Ready-To-Wear Runway Shows Looked Like in the ’90s

Though vastly diverse and designed based on different eras, ideologies, places, concepts, and feelings, there is something incredibly nostalgic and chic about ‘90s runway shows. Beloved supermodels Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Carla Bruni, and Claudia Schiffer all dominated the runway apart from being off-duty ‘90s celebrity fashion icons. Today we will be traveling back in time and showcasing some of our favorite ‘90s Ready-To-Wear collections and pieces.

Gianni Versace’s Ready-To-Wear collection for Fall/Winter 1995 year was said to be inspired by the swinging ‘60s. I don’t know about you, but ‘60s recreations with a ‘90s twist sound like an absolute dream. This show featured a plethora of go-go boots, miniskirts, checkered print mini dresses, silk gowns, matching co-ord skirt suit sets, and white gloves.

Karl Lagerfeld’s Spring 1994 RTW show for Chanel was all about pastel tweed suits, accessorizing with chain belts and necklaces, and suspenders. This show even featured Chanel branded roller blades, ever so fitting for the ‘90s.

You might recall seeing runway pictures of Alexander McQueen’s Fall/Winter 1998 collection and its infamous closing of a model in a red gown and matching headpiece standing in a circle of fire. The collection’s theme and inspiration focused mainly on Joan of Arc and Catholicism, while models strutted down the runway with bright red colored contacts.

Would this really be a ‘90s runway compilation if Mugler wasn’t included? Absolutely not. Thierry Mugler’s Spring/Summer 1992 RTW collection focused on wild and western inspiration, featuring pieces like bustiers, leather shorts and pants, bell-shaped gowns, with notes of mesh fabrics, cut-outs, tassels, exaggerated headwear, and impeccably structured silhouettes.

My personal favorite style that emerged from this era is the grunge look which was a definite blend between music and fashion. This style was popularized by bands like nirvana, the smashing pumpkins and Pearl Jam.

Must watch Sitcoms for their Fashion Inspo

We watch sitcoms for the drama, love triangles and comedy, but what we all missed is the amazing fashion. The 90′s had some of the best sitcoms for all of those reasons, but most importantly it’s fearless and creative fashion ensembles. They not only inspire fashion today, some are even getting their own lines. Binge watching is about to take on a whole new meaning.

Another great 90’s film that we were inspired by is Pulp fiction. This film is most iconic for the dance scene at the diner in which mia and vincent sport similar business style outfits. Mia wallace’s outfit consists of a white collar button down shirt, trousers and ballet flats while vincent vega’s outfit consists of a slim tapered fit tuxedo, white collar shirt and bolo tie. This scene was the inspiration for one of the most popular 90’s costume recreations that is worn by many including celebrities like Emily Ratajkowski. So grab your boyfriend and make sure to dance the night away in this costume.

The 90’s are back and better than ever! and it must feel so good for many millennials to start seeing their favorite familiar trends make a sweet comeback. I know I for sure have stayed reminiscing those cute front pocket overalls that I rocked at 3years old until I saw them at the thrift store the other day… let’s just say I had to get them.

Mom jeans are one of the most classic staple piece that has resurrected from the 90’s and for good. They came back to eliminate the existence of low rise jeans and disrupt the acceptance of mid-rise jeans or anything in between. These jeans passed through the fashion cycle and arrived modified to current fit and color preferences. Unlike the previous trend of mom jeans that were loose throughout the whole leg this come back has called for a more fitted style that cinches at the waist, is slightly relaxed from the knees down and tapers at the ankles.

Plaid is another early 90’s fashion trend that we are blessed to re encounter, I don’t think I will truly ever get over this trend. It is so versatille as it can be edgy, preppy and even classy if you want it to.
