It was a good thing Diana had lots of practice staying calm when speaking to royalty and other figures or the sudden male voice coming from someone she first thought was a female would have startled her bad.
It still did somewhat as she suddenly stiffened in shock but it was very brief. She quickly worked to regain her composure as acting weird now would not leave a good impression and simply would follow their lead.
“Thank you. I wouldn’t mind a tour since it is my first time here. I have read of your kingdom through my studies becoming a knight though to see it in person is much different. It is also a nice welcome to meet a fellow knight like myself. Please, show me the way.”
he didn’t become hortensia’s retainer for nothing ; rosado was a perceptive person & it was clear from diana’s reaction that feminine men were not the norm in faerghus . as much as it was second nature to him , it seemed like gender stereotypes & preferences were well enforced in other countries , even beyond the borders .
he had to admit : the sleek edges of diana’s armor & accessories also left him with questions . all nobility & warriors from elyos favoured elaborate decoration whether it be in clothing or on weaponry -- if not only for show , but also to indicate virtues of might & honor . it was facinating to see the differences in style .
“ i’d be glad to take you around . ” he says , before turning to give a tour of the castle . after showing off the main sights , the armory , the knight’s dining hall & living quarters , rosado adds , “ if you have the time , you should really go see the sights of the city as well . givre port & the lake of mystery are wonderful this time of year . if you’re interested , let me know after your discussions with the princesses & i’ll be happy to take you . ”
with formalities out of the way , he isn’t able to contain his questions about the mysteries of what lies beyond the border . enthusiastically , he puts a hand on his hip , before gesturing empathetically & asking , “ now , what’s it like in faerghus ? with it being further north , i’d imagine it being a lot colder than elusia , even on her most wintery days . what are the sights like ? oh , just thinking about it gets me all curious ! ”

mergers aren’t complicated , but his clients are difficult people that strive to make every step forward as painful as possible . worse still , when payment dates roll around , they come back to him with complaints about the exorbitant billing , defaulting on their payments & threatening taxation . he lets out a sharp breath , pours himself a glass of water to calm the growing exasperation ; no matter what , he needs those payments in the firm account before the end of the week . how else is he going to meet his billable hour requirements ? he’ll have to get something drafted for the taxing master soon ; no rest for the wicked , it seems .
carpeted footsteps meet his ears & he glances up to catch sight of bright , coiffed hair . he smiles , a tight - lipped smirk he reserves for the office , that catches all of his best angles . “ ah , donna . just the person i wanted to see . can you send mike in ? ”
his brows furrow when he takes another glance over her . he can’t help but notice ( he’s a visual person , sue him ) : she’s touched herself up , it’s as if the wear & tear throughout the day’s been covered by a fresh layer . it’s none of his business , but he doesn’t suppress his urge to pry ; knows he doesn’t have to with her . he leans back in a chair , restrained smile growing into something more devious , “ hey , wait a minute . you’re looking all dolled up today , what’s the special occasion ? ”

if juyoung was feeling nervous, she hid it well. radiating some air of faux confidence as hundreds of flashes went off every second capturing the star-studded gala. she just wished inha could have attended with her to keep her mind calm. against her better judgment, she remained at the table and chatted with the others. thanking them for supporting her career after her hiatus. but beneath her facade, trembling hands desperately clutched at her dress to keep her nerves at bay.
she inhaled deeply and ended up holding her breath again, hoping to calm this increasing urge to throw up. her nerves were starting to get the better of her, leaving her antsy and drained to the point she could no longer keep up with the conversation. before another conversation about fashion could begin, she politely excused herself and walked out of the room. with no destination in mind, she wandered through the hallways and doors aimlessly, her soft steps leading her further away to silent solace.
or at least that’s what she thought before the door swung open. immediately she spun around to apologize to the staff member who found her. but it wasn’t a staff member, instead, it was another female who looked just as flustered ( if not more ) at the situation. so she played along and offered a small soft smile.
❝ oh no, it’s okay! really. i also got lost looking for the restroom. i thought the signage directed me here but … ❞ her voice trailed off as she exited the quiet space. ❝ but i didn’t see anyone or any signs along the route. did you want to try looking for the bathroom together? ❞ even if it was a smaller event, venues always took care of their guests to avoid mishaps, especially after the stage collapse she was involved in. ❝ um, sorry i’m min juyoung. ❞ she bowed her head politely in greeting, while mentally berating herself for forgetting to introduce herself. even though she was an idol it wasn’t like she was a well-known name. and who would want to wander backstage with some stranger too? she knows she wouldn’t. ❝ maybe we both took a wrong turn somewhere..? i know i just wanted to get away from the attention and spotlight so i wasn’t paying attention.. ❞ as soon as the words left her lips, she immediately realized her mistake and tried to cover it up. ❝ not that i’m not grateful for the invitation. it was just too loud for me.. ❞ how ironic, an idol who can’t stand loud noises.
almost as soon as the anxiety blooms at her temples , it settles . she quickly realizes that the young woman before her can’t possibly be a member of staff or a disgruntled performer -- not with that sort of reaction . the sudden relief is like whiplash .
she’s a little put out at not being able to find some alone time , but juyoung seems kind & more importantly , as in much need of space as she . she smiles , the curve of her lips a little more genuine this time around : “ the signs are confusing , huh -- i thought it was just me . it’s good to meet you , juyoung ; i’m kang soojin . ”
as much as she wants to commiserate , there’s a part of her that clings onto the opportunity of saving face after the embarassment of being caught wandering . even though they’re in the same boat , soojin isn’t able to stop herself . “ i totally get that . i used to get overwhelmed by networking as well , but the more invites you get , the more routine it all becomes . ” though , she does concede after a beat , “ routine doesn’t always mean enjoyable , though . call it a part of the job . ”
in an attempt to make conversation as they awkwardly stumble down each hallway , she asks , “ so you’re in an idol group , right ? will you be performing tonight ? i’ll look forward to it , if so . ” soojin had noticed from the way juyoung bowed -- further , her overall appearance & dress screams idol to soojin’s judgment , & she’s rarely wrong about things like these .

there was no doubt that recent events inspired this urge towards diplomacy ; fighting towards a unified purpose had only served to strengthen the bonds of elyos’ future leaders , & with that came a realization of the importance of dialogue . knowing elusia’s secluded history , it was a real surprise when hortensia had informed him of the visit from faerghus . from his vague recollections of studying for his retainership , he knew it was an area further north , separated by a expansive , mountainous terrain that could not be traversed by anything other than flight .
upon reaching the edge of the palace walls , he feels slightly nervous , even with his usual battalion accompaniment & wyvern -- more for a show of security than need . he knows so little about faerghus that he has absolutely no clue what to expect . when the diplomat pops into sight , entering into the gates of the palace for the first time , a smile comes to his face unwittingly : she vaguely reminds him of goldmary , if she had a more solemn & battle - worn sister .
he dismounts from his wyvern , giving camilla a little pet on her snout to calm her as she seeks for his touch , sensing the nervous air . stepping forward , he offers a little curtsy , as he usually does in the face of seniority .
“ it’s an absolute pleasure to meet you , diana . i’m rosado ! ... royal knight & the retainer of princess hortensia -- on behalf of this entourage : welcome to elusia ! i’ll escort you to the inner sanctum of the castle shortly . princess ivy & princess hortensia are wrapping up a council meeting right now ; that gives me some time to show you around the public areas of the castle for you to grab your bearings . “

Diana was ordered by her kingdom to meet the princesses and their retainers of the Elusia Kingdom on a diplomatic mission. Too long have they kept to themselves and not talked to the other kingdoms from across the country. But instead of sending royalty, they sent their captain of the knights.
Diana's presence was announced and she entered inside, only to come across someone with a rather...elaborate looking wyvern. She blinked at it, couldn't help but stare at the owner, then cleared her throat to shake it off.
"Hello there. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I am Diana Fotieni, captain of the knights of Faerghus." she greeted with a polite bow.

there aren’t many events where you find both streamers & idols in attendance , but this award ceremony is one of the biggest of the year . with soojin’s steady - rising popularity in the beauty community , she isn’t entirely surprised by the invite . it’s ideal to make some connections here : there are a bunch of new faces & plenty of time for networking before the award show begins .
though , however necessary this aspect of her profession may be , soojin prefers to take socialization in small doses . as the evening wears on , the amount of people ( rather , the amount of fake posturing / exaggerated humility she has to affect ) starts to wear on her nerves . she bows , announces her departure from the table , and heads for the toilet .
she makes her way to the backstage area . with it’s spidery pathways of hallways & doors , it was only a matter of time before she got lost . she pushes one of the unmarked doors open , positive she was on the right path , & startles when she finds someone behind it .
