The only line that makes me think of MH to me in the Black Dog is the “you said I needed a brave man and then proceeded to play him”
Relating to
“A coward claimed he could be a lion”
But it definitely could be that she was feeling similar about each of them as we’ve seen woven through the whole record
okay but i could also argue that "you said i needed a brave man and then proceeded to play him" is also about joe, because he did just that until he didn't anymore. this is why the lyrics are so hard to paternity test - because in a lot of ways, they were the same at their core, just expressed differently. it's the oven/microwave, ocean/tidal wave, house/cardiac arrest again.
Ever since it was pointed out that nearly none of the songs go into any real detail of those 3 weeks I just … can’t stop thinking about it. And the cognitive dissonance, not that the bubble was popping yet, she’d given up too much mentally emotionally to give it up quickly. But damn.
