Relating to

But it definitely could be that she was feeling similar about each of them as we’ve seen woven through the whole record
okay but i could also argue that "you said i needed a brave man and then proceeded to play him" is also about joe, because he did just that until he didn't anymore. this is why the lyrics are so hard to paternity test - because in a lot of ways, they were the same at their core, just expressed differently. it's the oven/microwave, ocean/tidal wave, house/cardiac arrest again.
