My alter-ego is actually an artist, and it was fun bringing my worlds together to create the banner art for this dear friend of mine!

Hello everyone! Special shoutout to @flangst4dayz for making this lovely banner for my monthly recs! If you guys only knew just how talented she is… She also sent me a lovely painting for my baby’s nursery with a quote from one Ginevra Weasley on it. I actually just burst into tears when I opened it. As much as I love having all of you as online friends in the Drarry fandom, there is something truly magical about being in the fandom with one of your real life friends.

All right, enough with the mush- on to this month’s recs!

✨ Celestial Bodies by @shiftylinguini | 20k | E

Summary: “An astrological anomaly induced bond,” Harry repeats, deadpan, as the Head Healer of the Magical Malfunctions ward finishes announcing his prognosis. “Space magic,” says Draco, tapping long fingers irritably against the arm of his chair. “You’re saying we’ve been zapped by space magic.” The Healer huffs. “That’s rather simplifying things, gentlemen.”

Comments: Written for the trope “Bonding” for Tropes Fest 2019. I have never read a fic by @shiftylinguini that I didn’t like. This was no different. Fun and steamy… absolutely perfect for a shorter fic.

✨ More Than Kisses, Letters Mingle Souls by Erin_Riwen and @kristinabrd | 21k | M

Summary: It’s the beginning of the term at Hogwarts and Professor Harry Potter never seems to be able to get close enough to have an actual conversation with Professor Draco Malfoy. When he discovers it’s because his colleagues have been intentionally keeping them apart for fear they might have issues, he bristles at the intrusion and decides to send a letter to a very confused Draco Malfoy.

Comments: An epistolatory fic done right! This was a fun new take on professors Drarry.

Summary: The war is over and Harry has returned to help rebuild Hogwarts. He longs to move forwards, but the past refuses to let him go. The castle is full of ghosts: haunting nightmares, the deaths he couldn’t prevent, and the age-old rivalry that Draco Malfoy seems determined to maintain.

Comments: I don’t think I have ever read a fic set directly after the war that wasn’t just an 8th yr fic. I really loved this one. And who would be disappointed with an Armie Hammer lookalike Auror? I’m here for that. I will also say that this one kept me guessing until the end, and that is pretty hard for anything I read to do anymore.

✨Lions and Serpants and Snowboarders, Oh My! by @coriesocks | 30k | M

Summary: What happens when the Potter men invite the Malfoys on a family skiing holiday to Fleur’s family chalet? As it turns out, all sorts of things. There are late night confessions, malfunctioning ski lifts, far too much vin chaud… And then there’s the unfortunate incident involving two naked teenagers, and the even more unbearable reciprocity that comes from your children having no boundaries and your new lover not locking the fucking door. Oh, and there’s also some snowboarding.

Comments: Drizzle Fest 2019. My favorite part of this fic? I can truly believe it as canon! It takes place a few years post Cursed Child and of course also includes some adorable Scorbus. Love the different perspectives and getting to see our men finally find some happiness. I could have read 30k more words of this one.

Comments: Drizzle Fest 2019. This was silly and fun, a little sad, and a lot happy. Wish I had better words to describe this fic that I really loved, but I don’t want to give anything away. Just go read and enjoy it for yourself!

For HP Joggers Fest All-Ship Palooza!

General premise to this madness: Harry is not meant to bend this way, he is sure of it. Despite this fact, his current position with arse high in air as he stares at his feet, limbs quaking, is trying to prove otherwise. (context: Draco is leading a yoga course for the Auror department)

I imagine their exchange being something like:

Malfoy: *grip tight on Potter’s hips as he tries valiantly to get him into some semblance of the downward dog pose* Potter, try to straighten your legs a bit more and drop your heels towards the mat.

Potter: *groans but does attempt to follow Malfoys instructions although certain that it is impossible*

Potter: *fails miserably as his limbs shake and hips threaten to introduce themselves to the mat below*

Malfoy: *grunting at the sudden jerk of Potter’s body downwards* Stop trying to fight against me! Merlin help us all. How the hell can you be so agile on a bloody broomstick but so inflexible?! It is a miracle you can tie your trainers without charms.

Potter: *jaw clenched tight as his breath wheezes through his teeth from the not-so-normal angle of his body, now certain his lungs were about to come out his mouth from the angle* I’d - *wheeze* - I’d like to see you do better, Malfoy.

Malfoy: *gives a somehow still dignified snort and lets go of Harry’s hips*

Potter: *falls to the floor in a lump, head snapping up to see what the fuck just happened*

Malfoy: *steps back over to his own mat and pulls his tank top off in one smooth motion for dramatic effect, throwing it somewhere over his shoulder, before gracefully getting into a version of reverse bind pose*

Potter: *brain free-falling into glorious kinky dangerous territory* #$@%*!!!

Flangsty Wanker’s Monthly Fic Recs

September 2019

It’s that time again! I spent most of September focused on one fic, and one fic only. That’s what I get for reading along as it was posted! If you’ve never done that, I highly encourage it! It is a bit torturous having to wait for each new chapter, but the whole experience is so much fun. It’s so fun to interact with other readers and the author by commenting each chapter and sharing what you loved (or hated, especially is the author is a bit evil and breaks your heart along the way 😜) and your predictions for the next chapter. So definitely give it a try! Pro tip though, make sure it is a completed fic! Otherwise… move ahead at your own risk.

I saw a post today about reccing fics and how the authors sometimes may feel about it. To be perfectly clear, I make these lists because they are the best of the best of what I’ve read each month. I read much more than I rec, and choose the ones I rec specifically because I truly loved them and just can’t keep them to myself! I will admit I’m not always the best at leaving kudos/comments because I mostly download fics and read them in my Books app. So I hope by reccing your fic you see how much I loved it and want everyone else to read it, too. ❤️

✨ Burn the Witch by @lettersbyelise | 95k | E | fic post

Summary: When Harry Potter is sent in to investigate Draco Malfoy’s successful potions company, posing as Draco’s bodyguard, he doesn’t know the case will launch a series of events that will change his life — and Draco’s. A story about choices, scars, Chopin piano pieces, and finding all kinds of love in the most unexpected places.

Comments: If you follow me, I know you saw me posting about this fic as I was reading it. Elise completely killed it, and killed my heart while she was at it. Luckily, she also knew how to fix it. I loved every single thing about it, and if you missed it you should go read it immediately!

Summary: It’s about a year after the war, and Draco is a bit of a London hipster working at a record store. Harry is lonely and confused about what to do with his life so hanging out with Draco and listening to shoegaze records to pass the time seems like a perfectly viable option.

Comments: I love @dracoismytrashson and for some reason I thought I’d already read this one of hers a long time ago. Her first Drarry fic! But I hadn’t! I have now, and I will probably reread it many many times. I’m always a sucker for Draco in the Muggle world especially if it involves records, cigarettes, and coffee shops. Oh, and excellent make out sessions, which are completely underrated.

Summary: Draco discovers the Mirror of Erised is a portal and he enters an alternate reality where your deepest desires come true. Or how Draco found himself in the world of his dreams and Potter had to come and ruin it.

Comments: This was a re-read for me, but I hadn’t been able to read the update with a bonus chapter! Such a fun addition featuring a jealous!Harry. For a short fic, this one checked all my boxes and it’s a great one to read over and over!

Summary: Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter are the best team in the Auror Department, even when they’re driving Gawain Robards up the wall. When Malfoy is injured on a mission, it causes Harry’s magic to go haywire. Meanwhile, a mysterious criminal is draining people’s magical cores and turning them into Squibs. Can Harry stop blowing Malfoy away in time to solve the case? And will Malfoy ever stop trying to get the last word?

Comments: Ooooh I can’t wait to find out who this author is! Auror partners, magically powerful Harry, Draco attempting to deny his feelings while also being unable to keep his hands off of Harry… ugh, so good.
